Amber DRL's

So my driver side DRL burnt out the other day after about a year and as I was replacing I noticed most of the amber translucent paint was flaking off. Has anyone else experienced this. They were sylvania 3357NALL and I replaced with phillips 3157NALL so we'll see if these last and hold up longer.

Yeah...same thing happened to me. I guess the heat and amount of time they are on takes its toll on the bulbs, it is also common to see burnt sockets. This seems to be a hot topic...everyone seems to want to disable them for some reason. :banghead:

It's normal. Since the enviro Nazi's got rid of all the good paint chemicals, paint peels, flakes, fades and oxidizes. Somehow they think doing it wrong twice is BETTER for the environment than doing it right once?

I noticed this too, an irritant for sure but not a hard thing to fix.

On a side note, I've noticed the chrome plating in my housing getting dull, I'm thinking it's from the A/DRLs heat and not condensation. Anyone else experience this?

My plating is still shiny but those bulbs throw off alot of heat. I noticed when changing bulbs the plastic retainer was burnt.
