The states that you mentioned are the states of the original release.

The one you saw was probably ordered or bought from an out of state dealership.

I stopped and looked at a charcoal Z71 Avalanche today.  It was nice and it stickered at ?,5xx.   It actually had the EPA ratings on the sticker!!!  13 city and 17 highway with the 5.3L (and I don't know what rear gears).   It reminded me alot of a Chevy version of a small "Hummer", but with alot of nice options.  It also had a set of aggressive Goodyear radials on it... (no Firestones).

This is in PA about 60 mles north of Pittsburgh.  They had a red one too, but it was gone before I got there...

I order mine last year when I first heard they were being made. It was delivered last week. :)

Hey Jesse, nice to see you over here! How is the Avalanche doing? Is the midgate look sturdy enough,a nd keep water out like it should?

Welcome JesseJames.  Maybe we could get you to do a write-up on your experiance with your new one-of-a-kind truck.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

The midgate system seems to work very easily. Does it seals tight to weather ? I do not know just yet. The bed however has lots of drains.

I am used to driving a modified Cummins Deisel in a Dodge Ram. This Avalanche is sooo quiet inside and very car-like. It's easy to forget it is a truck.

Thats good to hear. GM-TC should be getting one to test out in the next couple months. I can't wait to test out that midgate.

Hey guys,

I just registered over here and wanted to just say hi!  Anyhow, about the Avalanches... Down here in Pensacola the local chevy dealer has about 6 of them.  My friend and I went in Saturday to just check them out.  It is one sweet truck.  It was a lot bigger than I though, and definetly seems bigger than an Explorer Sport Trac.  The midgate seems to work very well and I actually lowered it myself and tried all different configurations while the salesman showed us all it could do.  One feature I like is the coolers or lockers on the back part of the bed.  You could seriously fit twelve packs in there!! :D The rear was very spacious and would probably be very comfortable on a long trip.  The cheapest Avalanche I saw was one for 31K.  The most expensive one was 37K  which was Z71 leather seats and sunroof etc.  It was a loaded one.  Anyhow, I came away very impressed with the truck and I think Chevy has a winner on its hands.  Also, I really do appreciate the styling much more up close than in pics.  That front end is sweet.

On the sticker of the one I looked at it had 3:73 gears.
