Where the heck did the HHR come from? I've never even seen an ad for it or anything. No commercials, no magazine ads. Nothing. But I see them driving around all over. When did they launch this car? Why no advertising?

They were talking about it a yr or two ago. Notice how it looks like a PT? Well that is because the guy who designed the PT joined general motors a few yrs ago.

Bob Lutz was defending the HHR and saying that it is NOT based off the PT Cruiser at all, it's based off the styling of a '49 Chevy Suburban. (huh?)

It's totally a PT wannabe:

-PT Cruiser is based off the Neon chassis, with a FWD 2.4 liter engine

-HHR is based off the Cobalt chassis, with a FWD 2.4 liter engine

-PT Cruiser has all of the window switches mounted on the dash to save wiring complexity (read: cheaper) so there aren't switches on the door.

-HHR has all of the window switches mounted on the dash to save wiring complexity, etc etc as well

-PT Cruiser was initially offered in hardtop form only, but now offers a convertible version, and turbo GT version.

-HHR is initially offered in hardtop form only, but there is talk about a convertible and a supercharged version.

Not to mention it LOOKS just LIKE a PT Cruiser.. Cmon! How dumb is this?

Well, you know how much GM likes to push their products. I mean you couldn't turn on a TV for more than 5 minutes without seeing a commercial for the Protec box...We won't even get into the super-saturation of the market that occurred with the Quadrasteer advertising.

OK, my sarcasm tank is now empty.

You could say the same thing about a Ram vs. a Silverado or a Tahoe vs. an Expedition or Corvette vs. Viper or etc etc etc....

If one company has a successful product the others will emulate it. If you ask me the general is several years behind with this one.

I like the styling of the HHR quite a bit better than that of the PT Cruiser, even though at first glance they appear similar. And when it comes right down to it, the HHR does look a whole lot more like the 49 Suburban than the PT anyway. :nopity:

Ya, I can see similarities, but having the guy who designed the PT Cruiser as the head designer of Chevy, where do you think the idea came from? BTW he is the guy we can thank for all the fugly arse stuff Chevy has put out through the "Revolution." Thank you for uglifying the trucks, by half arsing it and only redoing the nose, not the rest of the sheet metal. Thanks for the new Malibu, who was sniffing glue on that one? Atleast it looks like there is hope for the GMT-900's.

I can tell you one thing for sure.....The HHR dosen't have the room inside like the '49 Suburban had!!! :chevy::thumbs::driving:
