Kill Switch Install?

Recommended Posts

Been thinking about putting a kill switch in my 03 Silverado. I had one I put in a 82 Olds that was tied into the Neutral safety switch, just an inline switch. Car turned over but wouldn't start. Paid off one night after getting into car, finding column cover busted up, but car was still there. Hit my switch and "I" drove it away. Anyone added any kind of kill switch switch in their truck? Or if my prior technique would work in my 03? Or have any ideas?

I have a switch on my 05 that "switches a ground leg of the relay that controls the factory keyless entry alarm" (so I am told anyway). It was installed by my local stereo / alarm shop that has done other work for me. Since I didn't personally install it, I can't give you specifice but it works like a champ. Might wanna go talk to your local alarm guru.

I put a starter kill switch, added clips to the fuse for the starter relay then ran wiring to hidden location in cab. where the clips are added to the fuse location I re-installed a "blown" fuse to help hold the clips in place.

Bought the clips from radio shack. Have used the same set-up in my last 3 vehicles.

Why your trucks already have a security system built in. Pulling out the ign. lock assembly with a dent puller renders your vehicle usless.

Im going to put a kill switch in my truck. I want to have a way to protect it when i go to the mall and places like that. Who knows where the ignition and fuel pump wires are under the dash? And what colors are they? I always worry about my truck when im not on base, and i figure this will at least make the theif discouraged and go to the next truck.

I just started pulling fuses (after looking at the diagram) and seeing which ones would keep my truck from starting. Once I found one, I spliced the wire on it and put in a switch. Makes it seem like there is a dead battery.

From the fuse block in the engine bay or the driver kick panel? Which fuse did you pull? I actually like your approach, because if i use a fuse tap thing i could take the whole thing out if i have to have warranty work done.
