TIRE BALANCE

No, they should balance reguardless of that. You do have the factory aluminum wheels with factory lug nuts right? I've tried to balance custom wheels until I was crazy only to find out later the custom wheels the guy had needed a different, larger, custom lug to center than the chrome ones that came with his dealer installed custom wheels.

Find a different shop. Mines in Magnolia Texas, where are you?

A good trick to try if you can't get a tire/rim balanced especially if allot of weights are needed is to break the beads and rotate the tire 180 degrees on the rim, then reseat. I've reduced the amount of weights needed to get a combo balanced by 75% sometimes by doing this!

I've seen the wrong lugs used too Vernon! Had one guy that bought 4 tires and brought in a used set of uni-lug wheels to have them mounted on. Uni-lug wheels have a steel insert that can be bought for either 4.5, 4.75 or 5" bolt pattern, a universal wheel. He just had the tires mounted and loaded them in the back of his pickup. I even asked him if he needed lugs or inserts but he said he was all set. A week later he came back with pictures of his 78 Vette with ALL 4 wheels broken and 2 fenders split open from the wheel jamming in there. It seems he used standard GM taper seat lugs and didn't use any inserts!!! He must have cracked the wheels with those wrong lugs when he put them on. He took his first drive and one hard corner and all 4 wheels broke and he ended up in a ditch! I always made it a point from then on to always show customers that were installing the wheels themselves the correct lugs and how they go on!

I'm in Sacramento Ca. Yes I have the original wheels that had 245's and gave a good smooth ride. they wore down at 50,000 and I wanted a bigger tire so I tried the 265's from les schwab tires. They tell me they have never had this problem before and have mounted alot of 265 on my type wheel. I even bought a new wheel as one was supposedly out of round. Should I try michelins??

I had the same problem with my 01 silverado, and the actual problem was that one of my front wheel hub bearings were work causing vibrations that made the tires bounce and also made the abs work when braking normal. I replaced the hub/bearing assembly and fixed the whole problem

I'd say you have a bad tire. Buy yourself a dial indicator and check for roundness. It'll be 50 bucks well invested, because you suddenly can take control of the problem. Otherwise the tire guys will give you the runaround and you'll never get it fixed, just reduced.

I recently bought Toyo 305-55-20's. The dealer used what he called a "Road Pressure Balance". Says it puts pressure against the rim/tire to simulate road conditions. What ever it is and how it works I am not sure but what a balance job.

Over the years I have purchased many large meat tires and these are without question the best balance I have ever had. I can honestly say the balance is as good as the factory wheels and tires are. All the lead weights are inside the rim to.

FreyGuy,

Give us a report on what you notice (good/bad) after installing the DynaBeads. I've got a balance problem on one of my vehicles that is driving me nuts and this appears to be a cheap trick to try.

Thanks,

Digging up an oldie here.

I just came accross the same web site and I am curious if these dynabeads work.

Has anyone else tried these? Any long term results?

You don't need the dyna beads, you need someone that knows what they are doing. You've got a couple options to take back to the tire shop with you.

1. Hunter Roadforce balance as mentioned above. Google it, and you can find a dealer near you that has one of these machines.

2. If the tire shop has put weights on inside and outside of the rim, and still can't get it to balance, have the tire shop break down the tire and 180 degree the tire, and retry to balance.

3. Simply you have a bad tire or tires and should be REPLACED free of charge. 265's should have NO trouble balancing out.

Dyna beads are useful when you have larger than 35" tires, or a motor cycle or a big-rig, and will not help with lateral balancing issues.

If it was me, I'd take it back and tell them if they can't get it right, then they need to replace the tires.
