Do I have a Z71 Now?

I wanted to put a skidplate on my 2004 Silverado too just for the protection. Was it just a simple bolt on thing? And did you purchase it new or grab it from another truck at say a junk yard?

I bought the "package" (shocks & skid plates) off a new truck that had a conversion done. Basically the only miles they had on them was from the stealer to the conversion shop. And yes it was a simple bolt on procedure. And the greatest part was the cost. 4 shocks and 2 skidplates=$110.00 I couldn't believe how much beefier the Z71 shocks are compared to the stock 4X4's. I'd always thought that Z71's had Bilstien shocks but these were actually Tenneco, which is basically Monroe. I can tell a big difference in the ride though. A little stiffer, but my shocks had 74,000 on them, :D so it was time.

Don't forget the jounce bumpers, larger air box/intake, the Z71 bed sticker, and the Z71 RPO code on your glovebox sticker  :D

Jounce bumpers,decals and the larger air filter element is all your missing now! :D (Its just the air filter element itself thats larger,the air box/intake housing is the same on all the trucks)

The filter element on the Z is bigger? I have not seen a different filter listed at Napa when I was buying a filter for my Suburban Z71. Hmmmm

What about after they lower the national speed limit to 55?  Will it run in V4 mode at 55?

What about the G80 locking diff?

G80 was not part of the Z71 package in 2000,It wasn't standard on the Z71 pickups until '04.

Yep,Its bigger.Heres the AC-Delco part numbers;

With "Z71" or "K47" AC#A1518C

Without "Z71" or "K47" AC#A1519C

If you look at your RPO label in your glovebox you should have both "Z71" and "K47". K47 denotes "High-Capacity Air Cleaner"

I also think g80 was standard from 03 on. Go to the dealer and get you some Z stickers. From my experience the only "real" difference is the stickers. I have thought about taking mine off and replacing them with the 4 x 4 ones. I think they look better.
