Door open chime

Hey ya'll. I've been lurking here for a few days and have some questions about my new truck. I just traded my 95 Ext. cab Silverado for an 04 GMC Sierra Z71. I love the new truck but the siren that "dings" when the door is open and the keys are in the ignition is getting on my nerves. I know, in my old truck, that you just had to unplug it under the dash. Can this be done on my new truck? If not, how do I stop the noise?

I am also caught up in the whole exhaust, Flowmaster/Magnaflow ordeal. I don't care about gaining power, but I want better sound without losing power. My truck has the 5.3 V8. What are your suggestions?

I am sue I will have many more questions to come.

Thanks for the help

Hello,

Don't quote me on this, but I think that if you can have the chime turned off or turned down. I had a PCM tune and he said that it is controlled by the body module. If I had wanted he said tha it could be turned off. He even could add INSTANT mileage if you didn't have it already.

I got the wait4me tune (Jesse Bubb) LOVE IT!

HI..........The 04s and newer GM trucks the chime is indeed

controlled thru the radio. Your only options is for the chime

to be either loud or soft NEVER off.

Directions on how to do this are in yout owners manual.........geo

i would love to get rid of that chime...i called a couple different pcm tuners and some said they could get it out and some said they couldnt...however eventually i will just replace the radio and it will go away with the new radio...so i am not going to stress over ti for now.

Cody, On the flowmaster/magnaflow exhaust debate I am doing insane amounts of research from posts and other sites on this topic...I am really just trying to make sure i make the right decsision with my exhaust choice. Take a look under my profile and look at the posts on exhaust...For these newer engines i have heard alot about backpressure issues...take a look at that recent post i have up on back pressure.

Thanks for the replys fellas. I will have to get the book out and check on turning this chime down.

opsbear7-

I have been trying to follow your threads. It seems we are both looking for the answer to the same question. I love the sound of the Flowmaster but have never heard a Magnaflow on one of the 5.3 engines

Thanks again

Cody
