Brake controller location?

I have a 2000 Silverado with the 5.3 and I am curious where everyone installed thier brake controllers. I have a Tekonsha Prodigy and I have not found a good place to install it.

Any help would be appreciated.

My truck has the bucket seats with the center console.

I bolted mine up under the dash next to the console and over top of my right shin as my foot is on the gas. I used the factory screw on the bottom edge of the dash to hold the bracket. I didn't install the second screw because just one screw seems to hold it just fine.

My brake controller is installed in the same location.

Doesn't get in the way at all.

I have an 04 and my controller bracket mount holes lined up perectly with 2 existing holes in a bar that runs across the bottom of the knee shield. I can see the display perfectly through the opening in the bottom of the steering wheel

hijacking this thread, please stand by :driving: WHERE do these plug into? I didn't know if this was a painless job with easy instructions, and if I would still have to run a wire all the way back to the bumper. Thanks, bruce

On my 2000 Silverado I had to buy the plug. It plugs into a block under the dash to the left of the brake pedal. It took mabye 10 minutes to install the plug and wire the controller. If I would of realized Tekonsha made this plug with the adapter for the controller already wired up it would of been alot easier.

Its really very easy to do. My three year old son who loves helping work on the cars did the "wiring", if you even want to call it that himself. I mounted it, he plugged it in the back of the controller and into the location on the Suburban.

Wiring: Spend the extra 8 bucks and get the vehicle specific harness. It makes the install a 5 minute job. Just make sure you get the correct wiring for your year truck. They changed the pinouts between '02 and '03.

2005 1/2 Ton Silverado Crew Cab. Prodigy Brake Controller installed on directly above where my right foot would rest when on the pedal. Very accessible, not a problem. Make suer you instal this on a level plane --- if not level, you may encounter problems. Good luck.

I took out my ash tray on my 03 1/2 ton and put it in the slot. I get the Low bars to flash on my prodigy when I excellerate hard but then it plains and and is fine. I did have to take the dremel and cut the slot out bigger to get the plug to go in but I can rivet the ash tray back in and would never be able to see it.
