Cabin air filter?

So if you have the cabin air filter will it say on the sticker that came with the truck or do you have to look under the glovebox where its post to be to find out? Any help would be appreciated.

GM must be putting them in alot of their newer vehicles.  My wife's Tracker even has one-you have to open the glove box and remove the door to get to the filter.

The first thing you have to do is remove that big black plastic shroud that runs from the under the glove box to the center hump.  There are a few screws that hold the black cover on, and the filters are in a slot under the glove box.  There are 2 filters!.  The second one is pushed in behind the first.  When you but the new filter(s), the box will have two in it so you can replace both of them.

Maybe someone can post a link to BCO's site-it has some good photos of  the filter location.

I dont think my truck has a air filter, took the cover off and everthing and I looked for a filter or box that would hold a filter and did not see such a thing. Any other suggestions?

I'm sure it does have filters.  After dropping the big black cover by taking off 2 screws (BUT ONLY LOOSENING THE 3rd ONE BY THE CONSOLE if you have a console) then look for a rectangular metal bracket.  I used to remove a screw to drop it but then I found you can poke a screwdriver up where it latches and just push the latch off the pull it aside.

That's the best way.  Leave what you can connected.  Not too hard to do, just awkward to work under there if you're a big guy like me 6'5 230.

I used a 9/32" 1/4 drive socket. The screw over the hump is tight, but the small ratchet works. Car Quest sells the two-piece set (Wix branded) for $12.18 and you'll notice the difference immediately when riding in traffic.

Have a great one!

My '99 didn't have the air filters while my '00 does. It appears that in '99 it was an option and not a standard feature.

The "classic" ones in '99 did not have the filters.  All of the new body style  trucks ('99-present) have the filters standard.  That was one of the highly touted features in the '99's.
