Will simple bolt-on mods void warranty?

So, I want to add a couple minor mods to my Tahoe, but I don't want to void my warranty.

I want to add Volant cold air induction box, throttle body spacer (Poweraid), and Hellwig anti-sway bars front and rear.  I feel these are very minor mods, but we've all heard the horror stories from uptight dealers.

Anybody with any of these mods have any problems with their dealers?

Thanks.

I know it hasn't voided my warranty.  I've taken my truck in to the dealer for a couple of things.  I have the K&N FIPK and Flowmasters, not a problem.   They even asked how I liked it.   :)

No

If there is some sort of engine problem and they say its due to your mod they have to prove it.  There is a law saying they cant void the warranty for just adding mods unless it is the cause of a failure

I wouldnt worry to much about it

Even with things such as drop spindles and such... They have to prove that any malfunction is a result of whatever modifications youve done.

under the magnesson act of 95  they have to warranty your truck  no what the mod..  unless it's that mod itself that is messed up

Does this include, headers/y-pipe, cam, new or ported heads, super charger...?

I'm really thinking on some new SPL rockers, if I installed it my self, Will that void the warranty? Would they even know (I've heard they look just like the stock ones)? Do I have to tell them if I need warranty work done?

Thanks,

Chris.

Edit:

Check this out...

"SLP Performance Parts is proud to announce the arrival of the industry's first 1.85:1 ratio rocker arms for GM Gen III engines (LS1, LS6, truck 4.8, 5.3, 6.0), which provide horsepower and torque gains. SLP's exclusive design is based on the stock rocker and is built by the original equipment manufacturer using the same high-quality materials and processes.

Compared with the stock 1.7:1 ratio rocker, SLP's 1.85:1 rocker increases lift by approximately 10 percent and forces the valves to accelerate faster during opening and closing.

SLP's rocker was designed as a bolt-on replacement for stock. No valvecover or cylinder head modifications are necessary, and stock pushrods can be reused. Depending on model application, optional SLP valvesprings may be required.

The rockers are offered in four kits--with valvesprings, keepers and titanium retainers as needed--to suit your particular application. Refer to SLP's application chart (for stock camshafts only) to select the kit you need. Note: If you are using a non-stock camshaft, please consult your salesperson before ordering. SLP also highly recommends our tool set (part number 53306) for proper installation.

Q:  WILL SLP PARTS VOID MY WARRANTY?

A:  MOST SLP PARTS WILL HAVE NO IMPACT ON WARRANTY. THEY ARE CLASSIFIED AS "REPLACEMENT" PARTS AND BY FEDERAL LAW CANNOT BE USED TO VOID YOU CAR'S WARRANTY. SOME PARTS HOWEVER (HEADS, CAMS AND OTHERS) MAY AFFECT THE WARRANTY OF THAT SYSTEM BUT CANNOT BE USED TO VOID THE WARRANTY OF OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR. CALL FOR MORE DETAILS.

The logic goes something like this...

If you put in aftermarket rocker arms, they can't void the warranty on your computer, but they can void the warranty on your valves.

If you put on drop spindles, they can void warranty on certain suspension items, maybe brakes, maybe certain steering parts, but nothing unrelated to vehicle height.

A friend of mine had his Camaro's rear axle claim rejected because he had heads/cam/blower.

I had Comp Cams Pro magnum rocker arms, pushrods, valvesprings, etc. and had rear axle bearings, egr valve, and a battery tray replaced under warranty on my Camaro.

It isn't like there is one warranty and anything can void the whole thing.  Each item has a warranty and each warranty can be voided individually by modifications.

This is the real fact - though you may want to take into accounbt that there can be some real horses patut dealers and service managers that will make you fight it right up to the regional GM folks, and they always lose. :)

Best you find a dealer that is reasonable, and act reasonable - doesnt have to be where you bought it cause the dealership makes more on repair and warranty work than new car sales. ;)
