EC with short box?

I was just on the GMC and Chevy sites lurking at the 2007 option lists. I noticed that both are offered with an Extended Cab Short Box, 133.9" Wheel Base with the standard box at 143.7" WB.

 

I could see the crew with the shorty box keeping the WB the same as an EC Standard box. Is there really anyone that would consider the EC with a short box over a standard box?

 

Just kind of curious. Those with a crew shorty that previously had an EC standard box is the lost 8" to the tailgate really a big loss?

I'm with you. I'm going to get a new 07 truck. Debating between the CC with the shorty box or the Ext. cab regular box. I don't know if I'll miss the extra length of the box on the ext. cab versus the CC which is easier to haul around the family now that the kids are getting bigger. I'm leaning towards the CC as it has more day to day practical use for me. Anybody notice that the CC box is just to short, but does 8" really make that much difference. I do haul lumber and plywood and sheetrock on occasion.

I saw a 06 Silverado Z71 EC with a shorty box in the parkade at work last week. First time I've seen that short of a box on a truck that wasn't a crew cab. Looked really odd.

really when do you need the full bed other than when hauling a 4-wheeler. I think the extra cab is way more important.

I have a 07 new body style and the EC with the short box. the reason i got that set-up was because it was the only one with the extra cab room that would fit into the garage.

Funny.................I was on GM Buypower and trying to do a build yer own on a GMT 900 x-cab you could only select a short box.........

if i didnt need a crew cab I would buy an extended cab with the 5'8" box

Well according to the GMC website it is a weigh GAIN of 133lbs

 

It says the curb weight of an Extended Cab Short Box weighs 4760lbs and the Extended cab Standard Box weighs 4627lbs

 

Now i am confused.

well my 2wd is built on a T-Bar frame which may way more than the coil spring 2wd frame

I think the shorty=sporty. Can you get the new silverados/sierras with the extended cab, short bed and 6.0 ???
