Quick question on Seats

I recently purchased a 2000 Silverado 1500 Ext. cab. It is a very base truck with no carpet and the seats are very plain and uncomfortable with no drop down center console or arm rests. I was wondering if I could go junkyardin and get a "front seat assembly" with at least the folding center console, if the seat assembly would bolt right up? I would like to know if anyone knows what years/models would use the same bolt pattern as mine.

I would really like some seats with the drop down armrests and a center console, but I dont think that would be a bolt in assembly with mine.

Thanks!

I am not sure what production model years will be the same, however a junkyard with a Hollander's guide or similar interchange guide can tell you. In my '05 SCLB the console is a seprate unit independent of the two bucket seats. You could do some quick work by sliding under your truck and looking for the mount points for your existing bench seat. You should be able to see similar mount points near the center of the floor where a bucket seat would mount. If you do not have these mount points you will have to drill holes and use nuts and fender washers to hold the seat down. For the rear mounts I would recommend that you use a substantial plate if the seatbelts are built into the seats--the floor is going to have to absorb the full thrust of you being thrown into the seatbelt at 50mph.

Someone else will need to chime in on whether the seatbelt sensors changed. Also, I don't know if the passenger side air bag on your truck uses a weight sensor in the seat to turn it off.

Good luck!

Very good idea! I will get under my seats and double check the center seat of mine may just unbolt and I could get a complete folding console that will bolt in it's place.

Thanks!

Not sure about the center console, but the seats from 99' (NBS) to 07' (classics) are the same bolt-in-wise. Getting them to work electrically is a completely different hurdle...

The seat belt sensors and PODS sensor in the passenger seats changed in 03' with the refresh. If you find anything 99' to 2002, safety-wise you should be OK.

If this is of any relevance, you can buy a new '06 or '07 basic work truck with a seat upgrade. They will put in the same seats as in LT1 or LT2 model, with the folding center console. The option is something like $ 285. This tells me that the bolt pattern for all seats must be the same. So most likely the better seat will bolt right up.

Check the bolt pattern on your existing seats and then if you locate the right upgraded seat, make sure that the bolt pattern is the same before you buy it.
