GM oil part number question

I have been gone from this forum for a while and wow likes like a lot of change...very nice. Anyway my question stems from a recent visit to the dealership. I received one of those free inspection and oil change coupons for my Sierra in the mail and right around inspection time (imagine that). So I took it in and asked the service rep to use Mobil 1 since that's all I use since the first oil change and I don't like mixing oils. I got the truck home and went over the receipt closer, I didn't look it over because they charged me $93 for free inspection, free oil change and a tire rotation. I assumed it was this high because they charged me extra for Mobil 1 and this is about what I expected to pay. But none of the charges were for the synthetic oil??? All the charges were for the inspection and rotation??? I highly doubt I got 7 quarts of synthetic oil $8.80 ea for free. Now to the point can someone tell me what the GM part number 88901744 is for?? All I can get is it's OIL, no other description from my parts sources. I hate to drain and start over it's in fact synthetic oil. Thanks

I dont know what the P/N is but the LS engines all use 6 quorts of oil look in your owners manual. I bet you didnt get Mobil 1 and i would make them remburse you for the difference. and use ithe current oil until its time to change again.

The GM number for 5W30 Mobil1 is 12345885,which has a list of $9.39 a quart.

Not sure on the 88901744,I'll have to check the chemical book when I get to work tomorrow.

I always put 6 qts in when I change oil and wondered why they have 7 down. Isn't the spec something like 6.1 qts? They probably round up. Well I am not going to complain too loudly since they didn't charge me for the oil change. What bothers me is they didn't do what I asked and didn't even question it when I requested more expensive materials. It now makes me wonder if they rotated the tires like I asked or lubed the front end like I asked. I don't like dealer bashing but this is exactly why I normally do this myself, but it's snowing out and I had the coupon. Every time I talk myself into having someone else do maintenance on my vehicle it ends up halfa$$ed. I realize that dealerships don't have their most experienced techs doing "simple" maintenance but it's all on the paperwork. I guess everyone has a bad day. Looks like it's off to Wally World for oil anyway. Thanks
