Question About Gauge Cluster Replacement

My oil pressure gauge is all out of wack and I'm 99.9% sure its the gauge so I'm going to replace the cluster with a new GM unit. My question is, can the dealership program it to the mileage my truck has on it now or does it start back at 0 miles?

Yes they can but they would probably need it installed. You installed a mechanical gauge to be 99.9% sure? I've changed the sender and the o ring on the pick up tube but never had a gauge go bad, but yours could be. Usually if the speedo goes wacko then the IPC needs changing.

could be costly if that .1% shows up.

Its the gauge on the factory cluster. The needle keeps going past 80 psi and when I turn the truck off the needle will go to about 50 psi. Its as if the gauge has turned clockwise. I called the dealership and explained the problem and they said it was the gauge and that the whole factory gauge cluster would need replaced. I forgot to ask them if they could program the odometer to the mileage that is currently on the truck or if it would start back at 0 again.

Dealer can not reset milage, but the vendor that they get the cluster from can.

The needle usually will correct itself after a while. I'm starting to wonder if I might have a bad oil pressure sending unit. Does anyone know the part number and how much they might cost. I might just go ahead and replace it just to see if thats it.

Why not just pull the needle off and rotate it?

Yeah, I am pretty sure it is against the law to change by dealer or anyone else unless you just by it that way.
