Gm Supplier Pricing For Friends Discount

How does one go about getting an authoriztion number for this deal if you dont happen to know any GM employees personally? It sounds like every employee gets at least one per month so they should be readilly availble? Any tips on how to save me some money. My uncle works at a GM dealership and he told me about this deal thinking he would be able to get me an authorization number but appearently he cant since we works for a dealership and not GM directly. Any suggestions for me otherwise?

You shouldn't need it! I priced 3 different GMC Dealerships before purchasing and two of them said they could get me the GM Supplier/Friends Discount. They made it sound like it was a big deal and they were going out of their way to get me a special deal!

The dealership I actually purchased from never mentioned the discount, but sold me the truck for $1750 under Invoice, which beat the other two dealership's GM Discount by a couple hundred dollars! (The discount at the other dealerships worked out to be about $100-$200 over Invoice!)

I personally think it's marketing hype and you should be able to negotiate just as good a deal without the hassle of getting some "special authorization."

Now, the discount actual GM employees get is a different story and shouldn't be confused with this one. But, like you I'm not a GM employee, nor am I related to one, so I felt I did as good as I could with my deal!

New Guy...............The dealer will show you the invoice with the supplier price clearly

listed. Just tell then you have a sponsor and number !

Remember where you REALLY save $$$ with this deal is you NO pay advertising fee

($500 or so) and DOC fee is limited to $75 bucks......................

Not to mention the supplier price..........although its not as good as the GM employee/

retiree/family deal its still better than the average person would get !!!!!

I am sure I have 1 "supplier deal" left to give out this month so shoot me a e-mail.

I don't think that's all it's cracked up to be. I had a GM employee check his price on my SS before I bought it, and after a week or two of haggling, I beat that price as a walk-in customer.

Because of the large presence of GM Employees, both current and former, in this area, the Dealerships often advertise GM Employee Pricing in the paper. I'm with you, I don't see where it's much difference in that price and what I can get with some good research and shrewd negotiating!

I think I posted in another thread I got my truck for $1750 under Invoice and $2000 over Wholesale for my trade, so essentially that $3750 under Invoice! Hard to knock getting a $34,645 (MSRP) for $28,450 out the door!

Heh...Don't I know it :) My sticker was close to 43k...I got 'em more than 10k off of that before we even talked trades. What's weird is, another dealership down the road about 10 miles wouldn't come one dime off of sticker on essentially the same truck (it was silver instead of blue), even refused the GM supplier discount (evidently, they don't have to honor those if they don't want).

Just depends on how much fighting you're willing to do, and how much leverage you can take away from them (i.e. financing)

A dealer can come CLOSE to the supplier price! But never to the employee/retiree/family

deal. Ask to see the print out. All prices are clearly printed on it along with the invoice

price. Its very rare a dealer will go into their "holdback" money.....................

There are also "hidden" spliffs and offers for employee and/or supplier buyers........

My uncle carried on how he "beat" the GM employee/family price deal at some shady

NJ dealer. He forgot to mention the $460 advertising fee and the $1200 DOC fee

he paid tho!!!!!!!!!!!!

He outsmarted himself....................

Gm employee pricing is $100 over and supplier/friends pricing is $200 over invoice. The reason it works is that there is no negotiating. You walk in, show them the number, they give you the price. I bought my truck with supplier pricing, stickered for almost $39k, and paid $32k I think. The best part is, in Orlando, all the dealers charge a mandatory dealer fee of $300-$700 dollars that they won't budge on. With employee/supplier pricing, you don't pay it which means they don't get mandatory profit! Once you get the $100 or $200 over invoice, then take off any and all rebates. That's how people are getting pricing below invoice. Now, here's another secret. If you know someone at GM, they can provide you with an additional $1000 certificate. When a friend was buying his Avalanche, I contacted a guy in Detroit that I know, and he set up my friend with an extra $1000. That was over and above all rebates and supplier pricing.

I'm telling you...I BEAT the GM Employee price on my Trailblazer SS. No rebates were available on it at the time, I had no $1000 certificate, no doc fees, no ad fees, nada. I beat it. It took a week or two of fighting, but I beat the price.

GUYS.....On the GM supplier and family deals under the NEW rules after (3/04/04) the dealer

IS allowed to charge a max. DOC fee of $75 bucks !!!!

Before they couldn't charge anything!

Complete rules at http://www.gmfamilyfirst.com

Any dealer that is trying to charge ya more is ripping you off and should be reported to GM!

RUN don't walk from ANY dealer that does this!

BTW: NEVER seen a dealer beat GM employee price for the average person!

Its a internal deal and GM pays the dealer off aka "a spliff" for selling , prepping the vehicle!

Dealer may refuse to sell to a GM employee/retiree/family member or do a Supplier deal

for any reason !

Are you guys SURE about employee price being $100 over invoice...and Supplier being $200 over invoice?? I do not think this is true. I believe supplier price is more than 200 over.

I will look tomorrow at work and report back. I work at a large GM dealer.

Hey Wingnut....................NO problem......Its all good!

As long as ya got a good deal...Thats all that counts!

When I bought mine I was shown the Invoice and that's what I paid, minus the Rebates. If all Employees get is $100.00 over, then I'm glad I'm not a GM employee because I got a better deal!

In most cases the GM employee/retiree/family price is lower than invoice !

The dealer don't really make squat on the deal. Thats why they have the option

of refusing to to a GMS deal....................

That $100/$200 stuff is a wives tale !!!!!!!!!!!

The amount is different depending on which vehicle it is! There is more "back end" cash

on a Caddy, truck or Vette than a Aveo or Cobalt...........................

Its all "backend" money that GM pays to the dealer..............................

It s the trade-in where they make their cash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your shopping ask the dealer to see the invoice ! MOST will whip it out............
