Mud Flap Advice Needed For 2007 Nbs Silverado

I was curious which are the best mud flaps to get for my 2007 NBS Silverado. I have the factory 20's and wanted to protect the panels some form rocks and other debris. I read somewhere that the OEM mudflaps scratch the paint underneath.. Is this true? I was looking at getting the OEM's but not if that happens. I also saw some Husky molded flaps on Ebay that looked pretty nice. I would prefer the "no drill" kind of flaps if possible. Me and a drill are dangerous!!

Any and all comments would be appreciated. This is my first post, but have been out here reading some great stuff about my truck for the past 2 months..

I have a set of the molded splash guards on my 07 NBS Sierra. They do the job well, I haven't noticed any scratched paint. You don't need to drill to install the molded splash guards, you just pop out a couple bolts and then put them back in.

I had molded mudflaps on my wife's 2006 Chevy and when we did an early lease termination 4 weeks ago the paint was rubbed off on the first mud flap I took off. So I put it back on. I was really surprised about the paint rubbing off as they had only been on there about 20 months.

I have the Huskies. No drilling required and they come with a clear 3M plastic film that covers the paint to protect the paint. The film goes under the flap so you can`t see it when done.

If I may ask, where did you get the Husky mudflaps? Price please? I think the OEM's are about $100 for the front and back..

It's a little confusing on Husky website as to which ones apply to 2008 truck other than the "universal" ones.

I don't see any logo ones in the contoured section. And there seems to be two sizes.

A specific part number would help for those who have purchased them for NBS.

If these are scratching the paint, it means they are hanging loose enough to allow some movement. Might want to try an old trick I have used on several vehicles. Glue the mudflap to the vehicle with gasket RTV or ordinary silicone caulk. This keep moisture & silt from getting between the mudflap and the body.

I installed the gm molded mud flaps on my truck. My trick to help scratches is I put some black vinyl under the flaps and it is cut the same shape as the flap. It sticks out about 1/16 to 1/8" past the flap.

I would get the gm ones and go get some 3M clear vinyl from any auto part store and put it behind the flaps.

These are what I got, and I love them. No drill install. they use existing holes in the front and clamps/clips in the rear. I put 12" x 20" on the front and 12" x 23" on the rear. They look nice and protect much better than the puny molded plastic ones.

The molded does rub off the paint. I went with Duraflaps. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Jeff, thanks for the size reference. I went to get them a while ago from one of your posts and didn't know which ones to get the 20's or 23's, just forgot about it. Just went down some dirt roads in the rain the past couple days which reminded me again, mud all the way up to the door handles. my new denali is not looking new anymore, ohhhh and the street 20's don't perform very well on tar and gravel or dirt roads, expected, just have to be a little careful compared to normal truck tires. the AWD is different too, not used to it as i've never had it before. i miss just having the rears drive, easier to control and slide it around a little, or at least the way i was used to it for the past 20 years.
