This may sound silly but what is the difference between the 4l60e and the 65.....etc....

found this info. Hope this helps.

PT.NET

planetary gearset

Heat-treated stator shaft splines

The turbine shaft is induction-hardened shot-peened output shaft

In addition it has:

A revised valve body calibration.

Updated 7 plate clutch pack (I believe it's the 3-4 pack)

only one way to tell the difference in the tranny's 3rd digit of the code is a Z for the 4L65E. An example is 1FZT.

The 3rd digit of the VIN # will be Z

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the first 3 digits of the VIN was the world identifier (Where manufactured, who manufactured, whether it was chevy, pontiac, gmc, cadillac etc)

Its not the 3rd digit on vehicle vin, its the 3rd digit on the transmission vin whitch is located on tranny.

Yep here is the break down:

2=Built In Canada

G=General Motors (World Manufacturer)

C=World Identifier (Chevrolet)

E=6001 - 7000 / HYD (GVWR/Brake System)

K=(Need the character after the k to complete the combination for identification)

4L60E is the same tranny they put in the s10's trailblazers, but the new trailblazer ss has a 4l70E I think

I also think that GM should have put the 4L70E in any full size that has a 5.3 or greater
