New Truck - Options

New truck.

Are there options that you wished you had ordered or were on your new truck?

Are there options on your new truck that you don't need or think are worthless?

Are there options that you wish you had but couldn't afford?

Are there options that you paid for but rarely or never use and basically a waste of money?

Factory options.

Wish I had: 3.73 gears, 6.0L, and power folding mirrors.

Options I wish I could get rid of: OnStar, automatic temperature control (it works ok, but I'd rather pocket the $$ and adjust it myself)

i wish i had the 4.10 gears, but its really not necessary for me in most of my applications.

but i really wanted a factory sunroof. i was going to get a loded truck and the one i chose didnt have one but pretty much had everything esle i wanted. color, engine, interior, nav etc.. so the dealer convinced me to go for an aftermarket webasto sunroof. it is a great sunroof, bigger than factory...but i have already had to have it serviced cuz the map lights were sticking and now have had it adjusted twice now cuz the place that installed it didnt do the best job on it.. and its still not 100% perfect. so i wish i waited and found a truck with a factory sunroof and hopefully less worries.

Havent had my truck very long but i did order it so i chose everything i wanted. However, there are a couple things i wish it had but were not an option... first, i really like my tow mirrows but wish they were power folding. The other is a place for sunglasses (overhead console) i was use to having one in my tahoe, i miss it. :uhoh:

Thats all i can think of at the moment.. i am really enjoying my truck and so far i am very happy with it.

Wish I had 3.73 gears instead of 3.42; leather (not GMs); power back glass; 40-20-40 seats instead of bucket. Don't need heated windshielf washer fluid; rear window defrost.

I bought an 07 Vmax LTZ ec/sb 4x4, The only thing I wish I didn't get is a sunroof. I find that it makes too much wind noise. I like it other than that though. Also 4.10 gears would have been nice.

well being only 20, the SL package was all I could afford.

I do wish I had the following,

1 Fog lights

2 tow hooks

3 radio controls on the wheel

4 leather seats

5 closed councel (not the open one like i have)

despite of what I dont have, i love my crew cab Sierra.

Just got a my new Suburban. Didn't want to order 'cuz the dealer said it would be well into '08 when delivered. Got all I wanted except power running boards and the 6.0L. Would rather have that for pulling a boat. E85 already screws up my mileage so having the bigger engine would not be much worse.

Right now I like all the bells and whistles. Traded a '99 Suburban which didn't have half of what this one does, so I'm still on the honeymoon playing with all my new toys.

Drove a Corvette loaner and it had a heads up display on the windshield - THAT was sweet!

I wish now that I would have gotten the rear parking sensors on my Silverado. At the time I ordered mine I didn't think it was worth the $$, but after having them on the Acadia I really miss having them on the truck.

I knew I wanted every option, so I got everything. :uhoh: There are always things I'd want that weren't even an option. Otherwise, fully loaded is the way to go for me.

I wish the new pickups came with HID's or at least the option for factory-installed HID's.

I wanted the power rear-window, but not like GM does it. I'd prefer to have it slide "down," rather than side-to-side, like GM is doing. I'd also like it to have a rear-window defroster. As it was, I opted for the defroster, instead of the power... I'm not sure how much I would've used the power anyway, even if it was designed the way I wanted...

A telescoping steering wheel would be nice, too...

I "like" the power-adjustable pedals, but I think they could've done away with 'em if they had made the steering wheel more adjustable (i.e. telescoping).

A bigger glove-box would be nice. The one that's in my Sierra is pretty much useless.

Some sort of storage in the dash would be nice. I miss the little cubby-hole that was under the stereo and a/c controls of my last car. It was great for getting the radar detector out of site, when I was 'out' somewhere.

...and, yes, I know we have a HUGE storage area under the arm rest in the center console. But, that thing is basically a big bucket-style dumping area. Nice to have, but I'd rather not store electronics in there.

I think someone else mentioned a sunglasses holder... Agreed... Another nice-to-have that I kinds miss. I can't count the # of times that I've reached up to release the over-head sunglasses holder, merely to turn on the overhead lights..

I wish they didn't lock the radio and NAV so much, when you're in motion. When I had XM, it was pretty much useless, until I set some presets... No way to scroll through the lists of channels. Same goes for playing MP3 CDs. While in motion, you can only access a few artists and/or songs... all the scroll options get locked out.

And please please please(!!!) add a time-out for the NAV Warning Message. To me, it is completely asinine to LEAVE a message up on the screen telling you "don't look at this while you're driving" after the vehicle is already in gear!! At the very least, have that message time-out after 10, 15, 20 seconds... even a minute... but don't just leave it there indefinitely.

Ok... Enough nit-picking from me...

Overall, I love my truck. I just wish there were some things they had done differently or better.

Factory duals (or at least the option for them) would've been nice, too. I guess I fixed that one myself, though. :uhoh:

Oh, and I thought the heated washer fluid was pretty pointless..........until today. We're having freezing rain and after sitting outside for about two hours this morning I had a nice layer of ice on the windshield. One press of the button and 45 seconds later I have an ice free windshield. :uhoh:

Here are a few minor things:

A coin holder of some nature, and not just in the bottom of the cup holder or console.

I agree on the sunglasses holder. Throwing them in the console works but I wonder when I am going to break them when the next item goes in there.

Oh, Oh, Oh,...... Here is a great one for all the parents of less than 1 year!!! Safety hooks for the center position in the extended cabs!!! :uhoh: I say that, they are installed on the side positions but with a little one it is best to be put in the middle. I have to use the seat belt w/ shoulder strap to hold the base down. It works but so much nicer taking it in and out if there were just clips. Our '05 Equinox has them.

Enough of that, I really love the truck and overall there are some great features. I have an LTZ with sunroof, sliding rear window, and tow package.

A rear camera would be nice for hitching up the trailer but I will survive that one.

My truck has every option aside from a sunroof or navigation which I wouldn't want anyway, I could easliy deal away with the power adjustable pedals and sometimes wish I had the 6.0L but don't really care
