Tie Downs

Anyone ever use these or know someone who had some?

A guy I work with had those and there junk, the hook that comes up will bend easy if you put stress on them such as tieing something down in the bed and then the hook wont go back down inside with the slitest bend. I dont know where you live but there impossiable to get up when water and ice freeze them down.

I have the ones from gm. They are good for some things, but don't go try strapping your motorcycle/atv to them.

They work pretty well for light loads or when you tie something 90 degrees to the side of the truck. Just don't put much tension on them at an angle or they can bend or deform the stake pocket opening.

Fred, tonight is plain old bottled water for me.

I have the bull ring tie downs and like them. They are handy. Like others said don't tie down heavy loads with them. It is fine for a mower or a power washer. You get the idea.

When I put my bed caps on I ordered the ones with the stake holes, but I have found that I so seldom need to tie down at the corners I wish I had covered them. The flexibility of the cargo management type stuff has been so useful I've not bought the stake hole type.

Jim, I started the evening with the "Wine of the South," sweet iced tea and of course a nice highball for a nightcap.

I have been looking at these slide and lock systems for a while and if you want to spend any money to be able to tie stuff down I think this is the best money spent for the job needed!

I had them in my other truck. Like everyone's mentioned already, don't tie down anything worth tying down with these. They're flimsy, at best. Personally, I went with the cargo management system this time around and I'm VERY happy with it. It's very sturdy, very adjustable and it looks good, in my opinion.
