Mirror Replacement 2001 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a set of mirrors that I need to replace on my 2001 Silverado. I'm not upgrading anything, just replacing them. Now, on the 2001 Silverado, do you have to take off the door panel to replace the mirror, or can you just remove the triangular piece on in the inside of the door behind where the mirror attaches to truck? Obviously I'm a newbie, so I apologize if this is a dumb question or has been answered before. If I have do remove the door panel, how do I go about doing that? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think you have to remove the whole door panel, but I'll post this link anyway. It looks like you remove the triangular piece, and then pull out the piece of foam.

Thanks for the link. I get the mirrors on Monday and hope to install on Tuesday. I'll report back with my progress. Thanks again.

You don't have to take off the door panels to remove/replace the mirrors unless they are electric. I replaced my stock mirrors with aftermarket mirrors (LED turn signals in the new ones) and I took off the door panels only to run the wires. If they are not electrical in any way, then just remove the plastic triangle and take off three nuts. That is it.

Yeah - they're electric mirrors, and it looks like I have to pull the whole panel off. I'm new at doing stuff on cars, but got a great think from the post above with directions on how to do this. Thanks for the help.

You just take the triangle trim piece off. The connectors are right there. You only need to take the entire door panel off if you upgrade and have to run extra wires for turn or puddle lamps.

If you need replacements, PM me. I have chrome take-off's from my 02. I upgraded to black 02 Escalades with fold/defrost/puddle.

Really? Guess I didn't look hard enough. I just pulled off the tirangle piece while I was in the parking lot at work today, the wires looked like they ran down into the door, but again, it was a quick look. I bought some off the web, should be in monday, will install on Tuesday. Thanks for the help, and the offer, this site is awesome and has been very helpful to this newbie here. Thanks again.
