Need A Part Number Please

I'm looking for the part number to a '08 Silverado LTZ gauge cluster. The dealer changed my '07 cluster out (per a TSB regarding hard to read gauges) and I ended up with an LT cluster, different fonts etc. The dealer claims what I got was the correct replacement. I just need a part number to show him otherwise.

How could that possibly happen? Aren't the LTZ and LT two completely different dashboards?

The gauge cluster behind the dash is basically the same thing for both the LT and LTZ, with the difference being in the the font of the letters and numbers and the needles/indicators.

how recently was it done? I may be able to pull the part number that was used and possibly pull the part number that was installed by the factory....has to be done through GMVIS so I would need the last 8 of your VIN...

I need your VIN to look up your original cluster part number,then I can translate it to the new cluster part number.

Heres the bulletin on this,it mentions that some of the clusters are different.....

Subject: Instrument Panel (IP) Gauges/Gages Difficult to Read or See, Poor Backlighting (Replace IP and Program)

 

 

Models:

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

 

2007 GMC Sierra, Sierra Denali, Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL

 

 

This bulletin is being revised to reflect the latest Utility software part number. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-49-029 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).

 

 

Condition

Some customers may comment that the instrument panel (IP) gauges are difficult to read due to poor backlighting. This condition does not affect the IP cluster operation.

 

Correction

Important:

 

• DO NOT program the service software into existing 2007 clusters. The service software is designed to work only with the 2008 cluster hardware, which includes a new microprocessor.

 

• For IP clusters replaced/programmed due to a customer concern of poor backlighting, warranty claims must be submitted using the labor operation listed in this bulletin. Refer to the Warranty Section for more information.

 

• Program the replacement IPC using TIS2WEB Pass-Thru Programming. Select "I/PC" from the Supported Controllers table in TIS2WEB to complete the programming. DO NOT select I/PC Set-up. Mileage and/or Engine Hours must be set by the ESC's prior to installing the IP in the vehicle.

 

• DENALI CUSTOMER'S ONLY - Please advise the customer that 2008 Denali clusters are not available. In order to correct this condition, a 2008 Yukon or Sierra cluster will have to be installed in the vehicle. The customer must advise the dealer whether they wish to keep the current 2007 Denali cluster or replace it with a 2008 Yukon or Sierra cluster (which will correct the condition).

 

 

Notice: Programming a 2007 cluster with the 2008 service software can drain the battery and potentially cause a "no start" condition.

 

If the customer is dissatisfied with the IP cluster visibility, the current (2007) cluster should be replaced with the 2008 hardware/software. Refer to the charts listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin to determine the new IP cluster and software part numbers.

 

Warranty Information

Important: For IP clusters replaced/programmed due to customer satisfaction concerns of poor backlighting, the warranty claim MUST be submitted using the labor operation listed in this bulletin.

Thanks Mike. My last 8 are 71615398

 

GMVIS shows a part number of 25861675. I'm not sure if this was my original one or the replacement cluster.

Bill,They used the right one,according to your VIN the orginal part number for your cluster was 25800005,and as per the bulletin that part number is to be replaced with part number 25861675.

Also Bill,If you have access to the Service Information (SI) part of GM-DealerWorld,pull that bulletin number up and you'll see the part number conversion chart.

Yep,And one other big difference between the two,The WT/Base/LT cluster speedometer numbers go "20-40-60-80-100-120"

While the LTZ cluster speedometer numbers go "10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80-90-100-110-120"

I'm still not use to "not" seeing the 10-30-50-70-etc numbers in my LT cluster.

Thanks Rich. I just thought it was odd that the cluster looked completely different. I figured the new one would look the same as my original. I can pull up the bulletin, but I didn't know what my original cluster part number was to convert it to the new one. Oh well. My dealer is looking to see if they can get my original one back, but that's probably a long shot.

 

And yes Mike, at least on the '07s the LTZ cluster had a different font for the numbers.

Yeah, that really had me screwed up when they first swapped it out. :crackup: I'm surprised I didn't end up with a speeding ticket.

 

I agree pete, it is a cluster __ck! :lol:
