On my 2004 Suburban Quadrasteer ( just bought ), when it switch it to parking lights, they don't come on in this position unless I push in the button for the fog lights. According to the owners manual, the parking lights should come on reguardless of the fog lights. Is the switch bad??? Also, when I bought it, it has a remote start on it ( Avital brand ) that I don't need. Is this somehow maybe affecting the operation of the switch??? Please help...

The parks lights should come on at any time with the switch, the command start could be causing the issue. I have found most command starters poorly installed. However, looking at the manual, it could be many things, I would not just throw a switch with out some diagnosis. HTH

My 2003 Yukon XL Denali does the same thing, but the dealership told me that it's because it was a Canadian truck and all the lights were controlled automatically with the light sensor on the dash. In Canada, DRL's and headlights are mandatory throughout the day, so there's no option to override this "feature" by switching on the parking lights. During the daytime, if I wanted my parking lights on, I had to hit the fog light switch too. I bought the truck anyway because it didn't bother me to have my lights on all the time. Oh, and I don't have a remote starter (yet).

Easiest ways to tell if you have the Canadian model truck is if you have a sticker on your front passenger side window that says "Les objets dans le miroir sont plus proches qu'ils apparaissent" (or something French like that), if your rear air temp controls by the sunroof are in Celsius, not Fahrenheit, or your owner's manual has a French translation in the back.

Find out if you have a Canadian truck - you may not have any control over your lights if it is.

No , my truck was built in Texas, home of trucks I'm told. Someone out there must have an answer to the parking light issue. You shouldn't have to put the fog lights on to make the parking lights to come on. Is there a GM technician out there with an answer...hope someone can help

I am a GM Technician. The park lights should turn on when you turn on the switch even with the fog lights off. Based on your complaint, It is difficult to determine the exact problem with out hands on diagnosis. It could be a wiring issue, it could be a fault in the BCM, and it could be the switch. If it was my truck, I would not start throwing parts at it without diagnosis, but its not my money!

I'm in Canada and my truck doesn't do this....I do have a 2002, so perhaps it's different.

I do have DRL, but they are a seperate light from the headlights/tail-signal lights and fogs.

I can turn on the tail lights uisng the switch in the day-time and they will come on...independantly of the fog lights.

The bulbs in my DRL lights are burned out, and I haven't bothered to replace them yet. I often turn on the tail lights during rainy days, without the fogs.
