Skid Plate Package

is the skidplate package available from sources like Gmpartsdirect etc? If so what is the part number? spring is getting close and I dont want to be dragging the bottom off of my truck when I go offroad... Does anyone know if it is all bolt on, no drilling required? thanks it an 08 wt ext cab 6.6 bed if it makes a difference

I purchased mine from GMPARTSDIRECT, I dont remember the part #. But if you do a search, you should be able to find my post on the cost and and ease of installation.

Cost is around 50-60 bucks shipped for 2 skid plates and mounting hardware (uses specific GM self tapping bolts that bolt right into the untapped cross member of the frame.)

Yes, they are direct bolt on.

Be forewarned, there are only two skid plates, and while it does give nice coverage, they are both aluminum. So, any major offroading will probably bend them up like tin cans.

There is a large one that mounts directly under the old pan, and a smaller one that bolts directly below the transfer case.

Thanks!! found the original post and it looks like i'll be burnin up part of my next paycheck. not an extreme offroader just want something to protect from the minor scrapes and bangs.

Hmm, that must be an accessory option cause the skid plates on my truck are plastic...I've scraped some stuff with it before but never had anything rip off or dent it.

I bet you are talking about the "engine shield" which is not a skid plate. This would be the black plastic shield that guards the front part of the engine right behind the front bumper.

I believe that all GM full-size trucks come with this regardless if it has the factory skid plates.

The actual skid plate that protects the engine is actually bolted on under the oilpan area. And then there is a second directly below the transfer case.

Since you have a Z71, you should have the factory skid plate package on your truck along with the plastic engine guard right behind the front bumper.

I don't have pictures of mine, but it is the same package installed on any Z71 4x4 (maybe even the Z71 4x2).

So you can swing by your dealer and take a look under one of the NBS Z71 trucks on the lot. You will be able to see the skidplates, since they are raw aluminum (silverish in color).

I am working out of town, or I would attempt at getting some pics up. (But I am a terrible photographer! )

I have a 2007 NNBS Crew Cab Silverado. It is the Z71 4x4. I may be able to take a picture of it sometime, but it's raining something crazy right now! I am also at work, but I could try to get a shot when I get home. Unless somebody comes through before then . . .
