New Guy Here, Need Some Help

Hey fellas, Love the site. Im new to these forums but not the chevrolet:) I just bought an 05 Z71 crew cab and I was wondering if I could somehow turn off that **** seatbealt chime. Im also in need of a key fob and really dont want to pay the dealer 100+ to get one. I have heard of them being bought off ebay but Im not entirely sure what I need to look for when doing this.... Any help would be great.

The seatbelt chime runs through the front speakers so there is little that can be done. There are some threads on the subject around so use the search button at the top for more details than I can give (the options range from disconnecting wires to dummy clips to just bucking up) Key fobs can be gotten a lot cheaper than the $100 price you mentioned. If you have at least one of them around, pull the part number off of it.

Factory keyfobs are everywhere on Ebay... CHEAP! Many sellers even sell them with easy programming instructions.

My bosses truck is like that and its annoying... The worst part about it is its even worse when it goes off when I am sitting in the passenger seat, I get so mad....

Like the other guy ssaid, ebay will work. The dealership I work at, however, has a whole box of random ones we keep back in the parts department that we just program to a vehicle if someone needs one. We give them away for real cheap, free if you work there. Im assuming the dealer told you it would be a 100$ plus. If not, ask them if they have any laying around they dont need. The 05's are not a problem, its the new models that are harder to get key fabs for without paying a high price.

If im riding alone sometimes I just plug in the midde seatbelt into my latch to get rid of it. Otherwise I eventually ignored the DING

I think buckling your seatbelt will make the chime go away.

A poll has been done previously about seat belt usage. Seat belts do save lives. Some insurance companies will not pay medical bills if it is proven that seat belt was not buckled.

RGR that fellas on the seatbelt wearing. The last 2 vehicles I owned I have been able to disable the chimes and was curious if this one could be done the same way. As far as the key for, I do not have one at all. How would I go about finding a part number and getting one off ebay?
