Do You Have To Work Today?

Well I thought that I had teh day off today until Sunday afternoon my boss called me up and asked my to ride out to Rocky Mount to check on a house because they are having a party today or something....

 

Well I just got done putting a class III hitch on my in-laws Saturn VUE and it turned out really nice.... So I am going to get some sleep, it should only take about 2 hrs or so to check on that crib. But it takes about 30-45 minutes to get there...

 

Some people never get a break, and I know that I am ranting I am sure that there are a lot of you out there that have to work tomorrow but you want a break after 70 hour work weeks.... It gets old after the 1st week!

Yup, been working all weekend, but I will have Wed through sunday off.

That is one thing I will miss when I retire in Oct of 2009. Getting all the Federal Holidays off. I can say that the Air Force has treated me well. Come 2009 it will be job hunting time and after 26yrs in the service it will be an eye opener. So until then every day off will be time well spent with the family.

I'm working 6-8 today. Taking a break and checking email, surfing GM Trucks while sitting in the Duramax on a airport taxiway on Memorial Day.

 

I only get to go home 4-5 days a month. People usually think I'm exaggerating, but I've been working 70 - 90 hrs/wk for more than year. We really need to hire more people, but then half would get laid off in the winter and we would have to spend 3 months re-training in the spring.

I had a scare about working today, last night at 2200. I start my on call rotation this week (today), but I'm on salary, and salary doesn't work holidays (at least as far as I'm concerned), unless it's a critical emergency. The one person is going to have to wait a day, unfortunately, for them.

 

Hopefully anyone that has to work today has a decent day.
