Has anyone ever heard of or used this oil? I have always used Valvoline 5W30 conventional but that is $3.99/qt around here and very rarely is on sale in the few places left that actually sell it. I found this stuff today on sale for $1.88/qt so I picked up 3 cases of it.

Please, let's not turn this into a "Conventional Vs Synthetic" debate, that is not what I am interested in. I am not a believer in synthetic, I prefer to change my oil every 3K miles, even if it doesn't need it. And let's not debate change intervals either. You will NOT convince me to change my mind either way, so please don't try.

Thanks for any opinions on this stuff.

I use this and have since I got my impala in 2004. I dont see anything wrong with it. I go 3-5K intervals all depends on timing. I buy the 5 qt jugs at walmart for like $8? Since the car takes 4.5 it makes it easy.

I've been told that's the same oil thats in the black GM motor oil container, and some dealer use it if they change your oil.

I'd feel good about using it. What a good deal! Mobil has a good rep whether you use synthetic or dino. I use nothing else in mine.

Hey Jeff,

Ditto on the Wal Mart 5 quart jugs of Valvoline. Here they are $16.99, I picked up a couple when I did my break in oil change.

If you want to stay with good ol' Valvoline you might check it out.

Mobil is always a good product.

GM contracts the lowest bidder. Not necessarily Mobil all the time.

That builds confidence huh? :D

I would think anything Mobil should be good. The shop I used to take my truck and my girlfriends Jeep too used Mobil and no problems. I dont know what is available to shops but the only conventional Mobil I can ever find is what you have pictured so perhaps thats what they used.

+1 for Valvoline. I've used it in everything. Walmart is definately the place to buy. I use the Max-Life synthetic blend, and a 5 qt jug is $14. I usually get 2 - 3 at a time, and then go to Advance Auto Parts and grab a few Pure-One filters by Purolator.

The bottle looks very ergonomic. The red cap just looks too flashy though. It's like "Hey! look at me!" What's it trying to hide behind all that glam? I prefer to stick to oils with black or blue caps. Those are serious colors for serious oils. An oil with a black or blue cap is meant to do some work. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. You do.

PS. If you're going to go to the bother of putting up a back drop for the portrait of your oil, you should take the time to make sure the pic is in focus as well ;)

+1 to most everything above. I've used this particular oil for a few oil changes now. No problems to date (my truck is my daily driver). I like Mobil.

I used mobil clean 5000 in my 03 silverado for over a year with no problems I like it because I know mobil has some good oil. I am too cheap to use Mobil one syn. so I get this stuff. I would be using this in the 07 but I still have free oil changes from the dealer.

Good find by the way on the price. I used to buy by the case because you can do two oil changes out of it and I bought two filters right away too.

Hey Genius, do you REALLY think I took a picture of my oil bottle?

It's called "Google Images"....try it sometime.

The Mobil clean 5000 is the new bottle/version of the old blue bottled Mobil. It's the same oil just a new bottle, I used to use it in everything I owned until Sams Club quit carrying it then I switched back to Quaker State. Mobil is a great oil and I'd switch back to it in a heartbeat if Sams Club started carrying it again. They still carry the Mobil 1 synthetic but they dropped the regular oil which was stupid in my opinion. I just can't see spending more money to buy it from Autozone or Advance when I can just use the Quaker State and save some cash.
