I don't know what wire in the overhead console would be suitable. It would be simple to just get a fuse tap and run a wire from your fuse block. Getting the wire to your console would be the fun part. You would have to hide the wire in your A-pillar and above the headliner.

Hopefully, somebody else will have a better idea.

Run it down to the interior fuse panel and tap into the IGN 1 fuse w/ the recommended tap. That's the way I have my radar detector hooked up and it's no big deal to run the wire under the front of the headliner and down the pillar.

On that style truck it is easier to tap (using a spade lug connector - the male version) one of the unused ign lugs in the relay box on the firewall just to the left of the brake pedal. I hate those fuse taps on the microfuses b/c it stretches the connection and you will never be able to remove the tap and still have a solid connection just for the fuse by itself. It's very easy to run the wire up to the headliner console from either location.

You obviously didn't look at the link provided....that is the best way to tap into the fuse panel and it does no damage at all to the fuse panel since the legs are exactly the same as the legs on a regular fuse. It also provides a fused circuit for protection unlike tapping straight into an unused connection.

I think I know the fuse taps that Lincoln is talking about. They're little brass strips that slip over one leg of the fuse. They're cheaper, but they can spread the contacts apart, but that's not the type that I suggested. The one that I linked replaces the existing fuse and doesn't cause the contacts to spread apart.

Like I said, he obviously didn't bother to look at the link....I know all about the cheap ones myself when I caused a self induced problem on my truck my using one of those POS taps.

Here's what you need. I've seen it for about $10 at Autozone, etc. It makes it easy to get power for an accessory.

thats awesome and i take it i might be able to run my ground from around the same area

will post pictures for those who are interested in how it turns out

Yeah there are a couple of places near the fuse panel that you can use for a ground.

You should be able to take the roof console off and ground the wire to the roof and connect your radio into the positive before the button on the overhead lights. That would make a clean install. Just remember to turn the radio off.

Blackirish, how'd your install go? I've been doing some research into this as well. I have a 2000 Silvy with an "empty" overhead console and was wondering if it could be used for a Sirius install. Did you try to remove that cover from the area of your install to see if if the unit would fit inside?
