New Gmc Incentives?

Any word yet on the new GMC incentives that were talked about earlier here? Apparently they are to start August 20th.

Yeah, I can't get anyone to talk, or they just don't know. The last rumour I heard was employee pricing for everyone, and full rebates together.

Probably '08's only. I doubt they're ready to give away the '09's that are barely showing up on the dealer lots.

GM & dealers could care less if a customer buys an 08 or 09, as long as they move steel off the lot. Expect the same rebates on 09's as on 08's in a few months in the form of "factory to dealer" incentives before "factory to customer" rebates get advertised. Steel sitting unsold on lots, be it an 08 or 09, does not pay the bills. There are no signs of recovery in the full size truck market so demand will remain low, creating the need for rebates & incentives to move new steel. No way in hell will GM have a 10k price gap on a carry over product.

Besides, the manufacturer has a bit more control of supply/demand with new vehicles. They can throttle production. The logic presented by Won would make sense if GM was making enough money to continue the incentives but I don't think it's the case. More likely, GM is losing money with the current incentives.

GM full size trucks have a profit margin average of about 15k each before incentives. Much less on reg cab base models & MUCH more on high end trim crew cab models. GM is not losing money by discounting trucks. They are trying to capture a smaller profit margin rather then losing a sell to a competitor. The plant shut downs will not have an impact until mid 2009. Until then, excessive inventory will continue to impact GM.

There's no way that the '09 incentives will even come close to the '08 incentives when the '09s finally hit the lots. You're talking $2-3k difference at least.

 

Ask yourself why anyone at all would buy an '08 if they could get an '09 for the same price? The '08s would sit there forever.
