Factory Remote Start

Does anyone know if you can adjust the run time of 10min on a factory remote start to more time like 20,30 min? I have a 2008 1500 sierra crew cab. :D

I haven't heard of anyone being able to do that. I'm curious, though.. Why would you want it running & burning fuel for so long?

Funny......My 07 has a run time of 20 minutes X 2 then you must use key

to "reset" it to do it again. This is explained in the owners manual.

Is the 08 different with only a 10 minute run time?

EDIT: You guys are correct 10 minutes with a 10 minute addition

but is that also X2 before the reset with key?

Will have to check.............Its been since last winter when I last used it.

I just checked my 2007 owner's manual and it says I can get two 10 minute (max 20 min total) remote starts before having to start it with a key.

+1

My 07 has (2) 10 minute cycles.

Maybe the HDs are different?

Sounds like to me is that he wants to know if it can be set up to do 20 min. Instead of having it run 10 mins then having to restart it for another 10min.I doubt you could change that setting.

I know of one way you can do it without having to shut your truck off in between but it still requires you to keep track of the time since you started it.

Once it is started, wait about 9.5 minutes then do the whole "remote start operation" over. AKA, press lock, and hold the start button for 2 sec. This will keep your vehicle running and reset the timer to 10 minutes again. I think the two-remote-start-without-using-key limit is there there though. Maybe this will help? Probably not though. :D

One reason for extended time is for a pet. We have a dog that we leave in the truck when we eat at a restaurant when camping. 10 minute is just not long enough to eat. However, 20 minutes would give us a window of about 25 minutes before the truck started heating up.......

I have to be sure to sit by a window close enough to see the truck and restart it with the remote when I see the park lights go out...

You could also get the 2-way advanced remote. Not only will it increase your range, but it has a 10 min count down timer to let you know how much time is left on the remote start. It might be perfect for your application.
