Anyone Else Have These Problems...gmt900

Just wondering what kind of problems others have had with the newest body style. I believe its the GMT 900.

My truck is an ext. cab, 4x4,SLE,5.3 DOD-flex fuel,3.73's.

My warrenty was almost up the other day so i took it to the dealership with a few things they covered under warrenty.

Since new i believe to have had more then my share of problems with this truck. Dont get me wrong, i do love it and besides the payments i dont regret buying it so far, lol. Here are the things i have had repaired as i can remember.

1. Front bumper was tilted so it looked like someone had hit it.

2.blown speaker in rear passenger door, twice.

3.excessive brake dust on front passenger rim....they claim no problem, deglazed rotors

4. heated washer recall

5.rear door on pass. side rattled- had to fix striker

6.engine noise at 1500 miles- tore down engine to replace no#6 piston

7.hinges sqeek loudly - dealer claimed they gad never been lubed( which is bull because i have tried several products and the sqeek would come back after a day or two. The dealership oiled them yesterday....guess what? today they are squeeking again)

8.truck would hesitate badly at times after coming to a stop- they reprogramed PCM with update. After which they road tested it and noted engine performance very good.

9.Typical lint problems with the ebony seats- didnt even bother them with this one,lol/

10.front brakes started grabbing harshly- deglazed rotors again.

11.while the truck was in the dealer they check and said i needed an alighnment at about 3000 miles.-would not warrenty this.

12.gas cap teather broke at 25000 miles-they did however warrenty this

13.when i remeber more i will edit

The truck now has 36000 miles on it and i hope the next 150,000 are much more trouble free, maybe its just that its the first year of this model and the 08's and up will have the bugs worked out.

A few of the items you mention are common. The lint issue and rear door rattle have been documented in here many times.

Internal engine problems are quite rare. The V8 engines in these trucks are incredibly reliable. Brake issues have not been a big subject of discussion either. Alignment issues are not a warranty item and are considered wear and tear like tires and brakes.

Some of the items you mention are rather "nit picky" and some are rather serious. I hope the truck is sorted out by now. It sounds like you have had WAY more problems than the average owner. My 07 has never been back to the dealer in 10,000 miles.

An alignment at 3000 miles on a new truck that has never been abused is crazy. There shouldnt be enough wear at 3000 mile to need one. I have heard some of these trucks come from the factory not aligned properly. After they told me it needed one i put the skyjacker 2" lift on the front and took it to a reputable front end place who did a great job aligning it for $55. There are other things that were not perfect that i let slide but for a $36,000 truck it should close to perfect new right?

Well I don't know about perfect but you should not have had a lot of the problems you describe... that's for sure. The alignment is normally covered on a new vehicle if the owner complains within say the first 500 miles but technically it is not a warranty issue. I'm not stating opinion... just what I've seen.

Hopefully this is all sorted out.

Good luck with it.

That's not cool, man. Mine has 23,000 on it and has been absolutely trouble free.

I do have a little bit of a rattle from my driver's door, but I honestly don't want the genius techs at the dealer tearing into it, so I just turn my music up. When the weather is cooler, you hear a few more rattles, but I assume that is just from the interior panels contracting with the temps.

I'm thinking your problems are isolated!

I have an 07 and no problems at all. I only have 8,000 miles on it though. Also as far as the alignment issue, I thought they were supposed to be covered up to 7,000 miles. At least that was the story with my Colorado. I cranked the T-bars on it and brought it in to get re-aligned. They did it for free as it fell under warranty. ???

I've had a large number of problems as well. Maybe our trucks were built on a Monday or Friday. Most people haven't had much if anything wrong with theirs. I just hope that after everything is taken care of the truck will be problem free for the majority of the life of the vehicle.

The alignment on my SS was off from the factory and causing major toe wear to that portion of the tire. I've had no problems with my truck. Lint collected bad on the seats for the first two months, now its not bad at all. Hit it with a lint roller once a month and what little is there is gone.

Well first of all you should have a 5 year 100k warranty on the nbs trucks, that was one of the main reasons I bought one. I have had a decent amount of issues with my 07 SLE 5.3 A/F. (26k on it)

1.Have had rotors, pads, drums, and shoes replaced due to SEVERE squeekin problems

2.My "lint traps" don't want stay on, they keep coming off at the base of the seat on both pass and driver sides.

3.REAR MAIN SEAL leaking badly at 22k <- awesome...

4.Main trailering harness had a short due to a clamp pinching my parking light wire

5.washer heater recall

so  I'm sitting right next to ya

Funny. I have had a couple of Fords in my lifetime that had a list like that before I even got new plates put on them :dunno::sigh::sigh:

my 2007 gmt900

problem one- driver weather stripping wore out from getting in and out, that was replaced under warranty

2. from brake pads squeeking, they put new pads on.

3. transmission clunk from 2-3 and 3-2- dealer says its normal...which it isnt in my opinion.

other than that it runs good

EXACTLY RIGHT.......quality WAS job one...

I was test driving a F*rd back in '04. It had rained the night before. The dealer gave me the "I gotta drive it off the lot due to insurance spiel"...

Anyway, we get off the lot, he stops for the red-light going into the shopping mall parking lot where we were to trade off, and, I would estimate, at least 2 and a half cups of water come gushing thru the roof liner at the pillar, nailing him on his left thigh.... :happysad:

I asked if I could to buy that accesspry, or if it only came with the Lariat package... :dunno::sigh:

I recently looked thru my old service records from my previous f*rds. Man, they had a loooooot of crap go wrong with them compared to my current GMC.
