As part of their restructuring plan and trying to find alternative sources of income, Ford Motor Co. are going after Ford enthusiast websites for copyright infringement of Ford trademarks which include everything from domain names, webbanners, signs, and other merchandise. Their lawywes, Howard Phillips and Anderson Legal firm, are also demanding these websites make a payment of $5000.00 by December 19, 2008 and threatening a lawsuit of $100,000 for those who do not pay up. Ford is saying "the unoffficial use of their trademarked names are damaging".

What say you???

I guess. I said this with the whole TSB/VIN lookup fiasco, but I would think sites like this increase revenue for Chevy (Ford, whosevers site). I mean, without this site, I probably wouldn't buy GM steps, CAI, etc. Maybe most guys on here don't buy GM, but rather buy aftermarket? I would say this site, and our discussions, probably sold at least one truck.

I can understand why the Techs may not appreciate me waltzing in with a TSB and telling them how to do their job. But what does it hurt having me say the word "Ford" or "Chevy" or whatever?

Suing an enthusiast site, full of people promoting their products? That's kind of like shitting in the hand that feeds you isn't it?

Also, we own these trucks so we should be able to receive and talk about any information regarding them.

Just wait, next GM will be after Tobias and his giraffe for shaving the badges off his truck.
