So What Fluid Other Than Antifreeze Is Bright Green?

Thanks to the snowy weather we had up here last week in Canada, I noticed a bright green fluid on the snow under my truck, coming from the area that would I guess be best described as the dead centee of the cab (ext cab). Looks to me like it's coming from the 4wd transfer case. I just bought this truck a few months ago so I'm not familiar with all of the fluids and such in the 4x4 system (used to have a 2wd) but I was under the impression that transfer case fluid would be a heavy oil, and thus brownish in color rather than neon green?

I'm pretty sure it's not coolant that's just running down the body and dripping off there, because the coolant is old and certainly no longer that color (getting it flushed this week).

Any thoughts? Is this a common problem (i.e bad gasket that goes after a few years, or from driving in 4x4 mode for long periods of time?)

Dont know of bright green fluids except for anti-freeze
Windshield washer fluid

Possibly. I have some rainx washer fluid that is almost lime green.

Definitely wasn't someone else, i backed up onto the street and ran it for a few minutes and when I moved the truck there was a matching puddle, saw a drip coming from the trans-axle area just before I moved it that time.

WWF in my truck is an orangeish color right now.

Would A/C dye leak while the AC is off though? I haven't turned on the A/C for a few weeks.

A/C dye wouldnt be that much in the system to leak like that. I would check your heater hoses going to the firewall, you may have a small hole and its leaking anti-freeze.

Don't eat the green snow... If it's bright green, I would stick with coolant. You really need to pull that in the garage and inspect it. I would do it after running for a while so that the system gets pressurized. Check in the area of behind the fan pully. If your water pump is going, there is alittle hole at the bottom of the pump snout (called weep hole) that will be leaking.

I had this buddy/neighbor in the dorms Freshman year at college. He and some buddies tried to join the "Century Club" (100oz beer in 100 min) after drinking a little bit beforehand. When he passed out that night, he had bright green fluid coming out his mouth. I think it was apple pucker, jello shots, and a lot of beer. :D

Seriously though, I bet antifreeze too. In all honestly I'd taste a bit or at least smell it. Unless you have some weirdo brand of brake fluid or something. :D

Yeah, that's what I use. It looks just like antifreeze except it has a slight blue tint.

Alright, well I had the coolant flushed yesterday, coolant is now red, so I'll have to try to drive around for a bit and park on top of snow and see what surfaces. I wish it was washer fluid because that would just be so easy :-(... but I'm 100% sure my washer fluid is an orange color. Though I have seen the bright green stuff and know which kind you're talking about.

How often should the autotrac lube be changed, and where does one obtain this bright blue stuff? Is it a GM only thing or is there a common substitute?
