I am having a problem with a evap code. The light just came on and the dealership is NO Help. I found a service bulliten on the vent line but now cant find it again. If anyone has an idea please let me know. I was a master tech for 22 years so I am not an idiot and dont like the way some rookie parts changer handled the problem. So I am fixing the problem myself. I just started using this web site. Seems to be a good one so far.

Thanks for the help Ted

Do you have the actual code number? There are a few diff codes for the evap system.

I had the same problem and code on my 05 silverado crew cab. My wife took it to the dealer and they fixed the problem for about 500 bucks. I shat myself when i found out ( i was out of town on business ) I checked into it and it was this small canister and filter that they changed. It would have taken me about 20 min to do. This canister slides onto the frame, not even a wrench was needed to install.

I contacted customer service for GM sort of got the run around then contacted the dealer . It probably helped me being a tech myself but when I started reading their warranty to them. ABOUT IT SAYING EMMISSION CONTROL DEVICE IN THE WARRANTYthey step right up and fixed it and only had my truck 24 hrs. You should check if they turned it in as a warranty problem if they did maybe GM would like to know. I am a GM fan and have been forever but I have had a couple of problems this is one and the other is pelling paint on the front bumper. I love my truck and would never concider any other except Toyota (which I own one of those also 225k on it ) I hope this helped some peopls problem has never be fixed and I have found this problem on models all the way back to 1999 internet is a great thing.

Thanks for trying to help.

Ted
