We were working on a project, and decided to use the schools new high speed video camera for it. Afterwards we decided to film a water balloon bursting. We had it set on 2000 fps, and the video plays back at 10 fps (I think...)

Water Balloon

Edit: The original 7 minute video took about 10 seconds to film and, when compressed, was 2.3 GB.

We use one of these at work for debugging high speed equipment. Very useful tool!

What brand do yall have?

They forked over the money for the top-of-the-line consumer model (so the prof says), and then went and bought a cheap, off the shelf lens. Oh well...This one was the Phantom V12.1.

I have no idea, I don't even know how to use it. It's not a handheld unit though, it's on a cart with a remote lens and has it's own PC.

Well go learn then.

This one has a dedicated laptop which is tied into the network. Almost unlimited space available, which is good, since our first 2 minutes of filming took up about 20 GB's.

I tried to get my coworker to "crash" his car so we could film that instead...he didn't go for it. I don't really know why not though, all he drives is a Honda.

Wow, that is cool. Knowing how fast a water baloon explodes in real time, could you imagine life moving as slow as the video?

That was badass! Hope the camera didnt get wet!

It got close. We had to do it twice because it didn't save the first time. I was really surprised at how far water actually got!
