07 Body Style And Up Toolboxes - Photos Needed

Few things

 

1. Anyone out there with a low profile silver or black toolbox on their truck? If so could you post a pic

 

I would really like to see the 2 colors on a silver truck and also if you have a toolbox and have the sliding rear window how does that work out?

 

Also how does the toolbox mount (drill a hole and bolt on each side?)

Some might be drilling holes, but I know WeatherGuard and others have a J-hook or similar device that hooks under the bed rail.

 

I have a larger tool box so I won't bother posting any pictures of my setup. I do have the cross box and the sliding rear window basically sits between the 2 doors, there's a gap. The low profile should sit low enough to not have any issues.

I have a Kobalt that does not sit on the rails (it is a "chest"). Looks like I'd still be able to use a tonneau cover as it is below the rails. Normally it would be screwed into the bottom of the bed, but I did not want to do that. Instead I used a tie down strap to keep it snug against the front of the bed. For security reasons, so it cannot be stolen, I used eye hooks on both sides of it to chain to the bed hooks.

I have a Delta low profile box on a Granite Blue Z-71 extended cab. It looks good and I can see the top of the tail gate from the drivers seat.

 

The Delta box mounts with J hooks under the bed rail. No drilling needed.

I don't know if you're looking for the low profile to see the tailgate or some other reason. If you are, as some more information, with the cross box, I can see the top of the tailgate over the top of the lids. If you got the saddle box, you would be able to see the top of the tailgate as well.

I just want to make sure the rear sliding window is functional and not a waste getting a toolbox. I prefer a low profile box

Just to show you, I don't know if it will help you in any way with your decision, but I'm throwing it out there just to give you a little more information. The sliding window is just below the center valley in the tool box, which should be somewhere around the top of a low profile box, I believe.

I have a Delta Pro toolbox (not low-pro) and also have a sliding rear window. The toolbox only covers up maybe 1/4 of the window so it's no big deal. Mine also mounts with J-hooks under the bedrails.

I have a weatherguard saddle box, it was free! I can't see the top of my tailgate, but I don't try to sit up real high in the seat either. I think most tool boxes are going to be a no drill installation. I'd really liked to have had a smaller low profile box, but since this one was free, and it'll hold 6 dead bodies, I mean, a bunch of stuff, I'll keep it on the truck.

This is what I got
