Favorite Synthetic Oil?

I'm just curious what everyone else likes. I just switched from Mobil 1 5w-30 to Castrol Edge 5w-30. Immediatly I noticed a smoother idle in the truck and accerleration feels smoother. I wouldn't say it feels like any kind of horse power gain, but it definitly runs smoother. So whats your favorite and why?

Amsoil, some are rateted to go up to 25000 miles. Just seems to be better. I have it in my engine tranny and rear end.

No offense but simply changing oil won't smooth your idle, for what it's worth I use Amsoil. I like the extended oil changes I get.

Amsoil Synthetic is some good stuff. Quite tasty. I've also ran with Mobile 1 in some vehicles, which also has a fairly good rep.

 

I actually just rolled past 3k and have been thinking about going Synthetic. With the Yukon I actually just let the dealer put normal oil in there every 3k. We'll see...

I normally would not believe it either. But seeing is believing for me. Time will tell if its a fluke thing or if it actually helped. It could be a weather thing but the idle this morning was its usual self and now its smoother than its ever been since I bought the truck in Sept. But what else could explain it? Nothing else was done to the truck.

Mobil-1 and nothing but for me!

 

Mobil and only a few others are true synthetics, Castrol not being one of them!

Mobil took Castrol to court years ago trying to get them to change their name and class claiming (through research) that Castrol is not a true/real synthetic but a type 4 Dino oil.

The judge, not knowing shit from shineola, threw the case out or awarded Castrol the right to call their "class 4 Dino oil" synthetic!

Guess how many have jumped on the band wagon since?

Like I stated above, very few are true synthetics but they charge you and me synthetic prices. Do a google search and find out for yourself that you have been getting ripped off thinking you have been running 100% synthetic when in fact you haven't

I run mobil 1 in my Silverado and Tahoe both.

Honestly even running synthetic I don't let ym oil go more then 5,000 miles, whats anyone elses opinions? I ive in ND, and usual one way trip of about 7 miles, and in the winter it hits (-10) - (-35) often, I've noticed smother starts on the truck in the winters but i'm not confident that i can go 15,000 miles on Mobile 1 Syn.. That would be one oil change a year for me, please chime in.

I go with 7,000 mile oil changes on Mobil 1 based on the OLM readings.

I prefer Amsoil or Mobil 1. I do oil analysis and on my truck Mobil 1 is good to 6000mi max and the Amsoil is good to 8500mi consistently according to their testing. I look at oil as cheap insurance. Why not run a better oil so long as you don't mind paying for it. Good synthetic is just better than dino. Whether or not it makes a difference over say 200K miles I still look at it like cheap insurance.
