Initial Hesitation.

Anyone else notice the delay between pedal pushing and engine response. Makes me nervousness. When I am pulling out onto the road.

Welcome to drive by wire throttles. They can build a delay in to the system, with the wire.... Put a cable in and its almost instantaneous.

Get it tuned to remove that problem

I have none, its like a rocket merging with traffic

I love getting on the ramps crusing and some idiot will not get over to let me on, hit the gas and I am gone. Great feeling, get it tuned

I have the same problem, driving me crazy haha! I drive with a very light foot and I feel like I have to plant it to go anywhere. Get it tuned at a dealership? Or at some custom performance shop?

Definitely not the dealership.

I personally think that Blackbear Performance is one of the best. They have a forum on this site in the vendors section if you haven't been there yet. (Or you could click on their add on the right side of the window you have open now.)

The tune will void your warranty in some cases, although there are people here who have taken their trucks back to the dealer without any issues. A lot of people opt for extra computers for their trucks, so that they can keep the stock ones to re-install for trips back to the dealer. (6 speed transmissions are controlled by an internal controller, so there is no exchanging modules on them).

True. That is definitely the best way to go now. I plan to get one for mine in the near future.

So help a newb out here haha. The solution to lousy throttle response is to increase hp and torque by tuning the engine? Or is it specifically tuning the throttle itself?

None of the above. The truck's computers are tuned from the factory to protect the transmission by not allowing you to just stomp the gas and go. Custom tunes get rid of that delay. All they're doing is changing computer parameters.

Thanks for the info! Seems like a stupid mickey mouse approach by GM though. Instead of dialing the truck back so you don't wreck the tranny, how about building a tranny that can handle the truck?
