"Taking my girl to the drive-in" was once a common statement but I haven't heard it for decades! I understand why drive-ins disappeared but I think could enjoy a bit of a come back in my area! I've had occasion to drive through the local mall parking lot in the evening and see many young couples in need of a destination for their evening drive. It makes for a fun evening to get out of the house and enjoy a movie in the comfort/privacy of your vehicle. Funny anecdote: My parents would allow my older sister to go to the drive-in with her boy friend as long as they took me. I always felt special because my sister would always let me sit in the front seat during the movie while she and her boyfriend endured the poorer visibility in the backseat...

I just got the GMPP exhaust installed on my ZR2. Pretty happy with the sound. Much better than the Borla Touring I had on my 6.2 Trail Boss.

@DonstarFunny enough we normally sit in the truck bed to watch the movie. Nice fresh air and some good food. We just bring a small speaker to listen in. My plan after getting the truck repainted next year or so is to put a spray in liner and then a bed rug so we can have something soft to lay on watching the movie. That would be nice

Had mine done first week of May. So far so good! That noise was enough to drive someone crazy on a long trip.

Spent lots of nights at the drive in growing up and after. Every time a new Elvis flick came out we’d go as a family. Most of the time in New Jersey the sun goes down it cools off. In Texas forgetaboutit. The nighttime lows would be daytime heatwaves in New Jersey. I remember one in my Texas town 40 years ago. We went once in the winter.

Upgrade complete on my 2020 Custom Trail Boss! With the help of the Harness Dr's instructions, I was able to figure out how to get the wires landed where they needed to be. Unlike everyone else that I saw post on here, I didn't go with the full-digital High Country gauges, instead, I went with the more traditional (and cheaper) gauges setup that has the color LCD in the center, and the four physical gauges up top. I like the physical gauges, and the silver trim on this cluster looks nice. Overall, I'm blow away by how much this upgrade improves the feel of the truck. The cheap foam steering wheel with the big blank panel on the right (instead of buttons) just screamed cheap, as did the monochome LCD in the center of the gauge cluster. The look and feel of the leather wheel is awesome, and I'm surprised how much better the gauge cluster looks. The wider display and the addition of color makes it look so much nicer! The trim on the steering wheel and the new gauge cluster trim looks good with the silver trim around the radio. But the main reason that I did this was, was to get the steering wheel buttons, and I'm not disappointed. The microphone button is great to bring up my Google assistant, even when I'm not running Android Auto, and my biggest pet peeve with the IOR radio before was that when I was in Android Auto and listening to the radio, there was no easy way to change between my presets. I had to hit the home button, and navigate back to audio and press the new preset button on the top of the screen, then press and hold the home button to get back to Android Auot! Now, I just press the buttons behind the left side of my steering wheel. And just activating the Google assistant required reaching all the way over to the right, and pressing the microphone icon, which pretty much made you take you eyes off of the road. Special thanks to WAMS for making this possible. My 2020 Custom Trail Boss with 5.3 and without start/stop indeed works with the "2021 US Spec GAS - Chevrolet - NO AUTO STOP" gauge cluster that he had me order. Anyways, here are two pictures. One comparing the stock wheel with the new one, and one with the new wheel and gauge cluster showing. I did record a series of videos with a digital camera while doing the installation, and maybe I'll try to put together a youtube video of it sometime, if the footage looks okay.

If it's not leaking, there is no problem in my book. And if you look at it, they never even took that diff cover off. There are no marks on any of the bolts and isn't even a finger print on the left side of that cover. All they did was suck the old fluid out and dump new fluid in.

Most likely will be taking my girl to the drive in this weekend to watch it. Should be fun

Looked thru the full repair manual topics (PDF version someone shared here) and looked at the fastener torque posts, but don't see any mention of the fuel tank strap bolt torque recommendation. I typically go arm tight and snug w loctite on everything but they've got U-nuts on the other side which could be prone to tweaking since the nut just floats inside the U-clip. I'll loctite the threads and snug them for now but If anyone knows the correct torque I'll go back and check. Thanks

Blak or Gloz. Back to black doesn't last like these. Gloz is glossier than Blak. This stuff is the best and lasts really long and like a ceramic. It's from Renew Protect. Check out the vids.

Lots and lots and lots of posters reporting odometers way way higher than 7000 miles and not reporting turbo problems. Otoh, there was a notice/bulletin (in 2020 iirc) about loose turbo actuator bolts -- but the related codes do not include the one you are reporting. That bulletin indicated that if the threads were damaged, the turbo needed to be replaced, as actuator was not available separately.

I was wondering the same thing. Shop managers at the dealership said they haven't had any repeat failures after all 16 lifters have been replaced.... yet. They have however had trucks with one bank replaced only to have the vehicle return later with the opposite side failed.

Mine have the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol. I looked for the traction rating, it looks like B ? I don't know I could not see very well in my garage. But they definitely have the 3 peak symbol. I guess I just lucked out on that.

I drove by my favorite dealership this morning. GMC-Hyundai dealership. Not many cars on the Hyundai side. The lot was full just 2 months ago. A few more trucks on the GMC. I read this morning new vehicle sales are slowing down. People are realizing the administration claims this is temporary. Not believing it.

People have said this for six thousand years. Ops! It would have been different if we had picked someone else. Truth is humans are horrible at self rule. We have the right to but not the ability to....do it well. There is no right human choice

Update: The dealer dug into the repair a little deeper, and found that the camshaft was scored pretty bad from the lifter failure. So now instead of just replacing 1 bank of lifters and pushrods, it will be getting them all replaced. Also getting a new cam, rockers, timing chain guides, and everything else associated with those parts. Gaskets, bolts, sensors, etc. Hopefully this brand new, rebuilt engine holds up better than the original.

To each his own and Im not knocking you. There is a difference between bad tuning and just not efficient tuning. Very small minority and I dont know anybody keeping a vehicle that long, in the north your just not doing it unless its something you never drive. Driving something like that for 30 years with every day mileage just really isnt happening to most folks, and not sure playing with your own tuning is going to help. TBH if I wanted to keep a truck for 30 years it would be an old one as the new ones are impossible to work on in a lot of ways and parts are not cheap for them.

every time I open this forum there is new one of this #lifterfaliure its almost like GM did this on purpose to turn people of buying the gas v8 and prep them for the NEW GREEN ELECTRIC .... just my theory. GM once champion of a v8 and reliable engines suddenly forgot how to make a good V8 engine ..... ....

On the off chance it is the original, I would just replace it. If it is newer and good, may have a ground issue. These trucks like clean, fresh power without any interruptions for the electrical systems, that is why you are seeing error messages.

Right about now a updated 400 HP 5.3L would be awesome.

California has too many lefty intelligencia types , its a power grab similar to Ukrain, but not as violent yet.. some stations in CA are posting $9 for diesel , I have a feeling this Fall something big is gonna happen in this country. I would def stock up on critical items for winter

My 2014 GMC Sierra SLE Double Cab is at around 112,700+ miles now. The truck was passed down to me in 2016 after being used as a work truck and was already driven about 70,000 miles. I still really love my truck, and it caries a little sentimental value due to its ties with my family, and I've made it a personal goal to keep it running. It's pretty much completely stock, I've never done any performance or tuning modifications. As far as maintenance, shortly after ownership I changed the tires and brakes, and I've kept up on the usual routine oil changes, tire rotations, filters, etc (with a couple of recalls in between). The original battery also died during this time and I put in a brand new OEM one. In the first four years of ownership, I believe the only "real" problem I had with the truck was the constant 'Trailer Brake Control' warning that eventually went away. Then this happened: - I was not happy with the stock Rancho Shocks anymore and they were pretty rotted out, so I replaced them with Bilstein 4600s all around. - At 95,700 miles (in late 2020 near Christmas) my Water Pump failed which also prompted the discovery of a leaking Radiator and Cooling Lines. Basically got a whole new cooling system and while I was at it I got a tune up. This was the first big repair I did on the truck. This happened literally a couple weeks after the shocks; was definitely not a cheap December! - Also did spark plugs/wires shortly after the Radiator as well - At 106,260 Miles (Oct. 2021) I replaced all of the headlight bulbs + turn signals after both on the passenger side died. - At 108,434 Miles (ALSO near Christmas in late 2021) I had to replace the exhaust manifold bolts and gasket. - At 111,811 Miles (May 2022) my radiator fans were on full blast during a trip to a concert and I had to replace a faulty engine coolant temperature sensor. This was the first check engine light I ever got on the truck. All in all, it really has not been expensive to fix/maintain at all in the grand scheme of 6+ years of ownership (besides fuel costs I guess). It also seems to really like breaking around Christmas time apparently, haha. But look, I won't lie and be biased, there are "quirks" this truck has that would frustrate most owners. It's not always rainbows and butterflies. It shudders, it shakes, it squeaks, it's very slow, the thermostat is wonky, the tailgate "sticks" when opened sometimes, the frame is covered in rust. But you know what, I love it! I'm very happy with how this truck has aged over the years, the paint, interior, and overall fit and finish are still almost perfect, and I am almost always parked in direct sunlight. I'm still in love with how the K2s look, and personally I still love driving this thing around. Overall, very pleased with my ownership.

Just a suggestion but next time use a oversize tarp to line the bed

I had a few new 1990s- 2000s GM trucks. The seat were the best. I was averaging 50-60K miles a year. Seat comfort was a priority. One of the many reasons after retirement I went searching for clean older trucks like my Avalanche.

I miss the big comfy lazy boy gmt-800 seats. They have been garbage since the 06 redesign, smaller, less wide with half the padding on them.

2019 Silverado L84 BTR stage 2 cam, afm dod delete, K&N, long tube headers.. now that I just finished it I reached out to HP Tuners for the ECM swap. Apparently that is dead in the water and I have the world's largest paperweight. Anyone else run into the chip shortage issue? Is there anywhere to turn?

Hey any update on this? My 2016 GMC all terrain just did the same thing while on a road trip after stopping for gas.

Any update on this issue?
