  1. Supercup your truck looks fantastic and the trade-in just tops it off. I'm really tempted to swing by the dealership to ask them about trade-in value on current truck and net pricing for essentially my identical truck but with tow mirrors, maybe max tow too. But I've got about 20,000 miles on my 3.0L and it's been running and towing flawlessly. I almost don't want to risk it with a new 3.0L engine when I feel so comfortable with the one I have. LOL aaahhh
  2. Apologies for the delayed response, been putting the truck to work on a 5000 mile trailer trip! I have not made any progress on this yet. The main hold up for me is finding a local shop I feel comfortable with installing the OEM 2500 cab lights (ie cutting into the roof). I'll start back up reaching out to shops the next few weeks and once I feel comfortable will order these (I might just go ahead and order them anyways to encourage me to speed things up). I really hope it works out well, I love the look of cab lights on. Since I'm driving and towing a lot more I'm using the 2500 HD as inspiration for modifying my 3.0L truck. Cab lights + Tow Mirrors... upgrading my suspension which will also lift ~ 2", then get some good e rated highway/towing tires as opposed to off-road tread.
  3. Topgear, May be a silly question but you are sure the rear 2.5 piggybacks from king will fit on our truck. I ask because I’ve only see pictures of our silverados with the remote reservoirs mounted in wheel well, and the shocks are massive for two piggy backed. I should be ordering the kings soon and would much prefer piggyback in the rear. Thanks!
  4. I Switched covers to the RNL A-Series and decided to go ahead and add on the cargo management divider. It’s definitely expensive and each person will have a different tolerance for wether it’s “worth it” or not. With that said, I really enjoy it and works well for me. I also have an undertonneau storage chest so with the cargo management I now how 3 very distinct storage areas. It works really well packing for trips and keeping things organized.
  5. I’m pulling about the same weight as you, maybe a few hundred pounds less. I’m extremely impressed with this engine and transmission. Pulling through mountains is no problem at all. Consistent smooth power when I need it. For a half-ton I can’t expect any better.
  6. I would recommend driving what you got for a while and save up another couple hundred $’s. Falken Wildpeak A/T3W would be a solid choice.
  7. Well this is interesting that I was not aware of at all. So I have composite leaf springs in my ‘20 Silverado LT Z71? And that is a good thing right? Lol In planning to order front coil overs shortly (1.5-2” front lift) I’m okay with adding 1-2” blocks in the rear? And/or add-a-leaf or Roadmasters RAS?
  8. To follow up on this, I was always under the impression you would typically want the drivers side slightly higher than passenger. The rationale being tank of gas increasing weight and the weight of the driver. Too many times it’s just the driver adding weight with no passengers... this weighing down left side.
  9. If you like it now you’ll love it even more after towing! ?
  10. @Grey3liter4x4 that’s fantastic. Driving And towing with this truck is like a game to me now and makes the distance go by so much quicker. I just play around with seeing what fuel mileage I can achieve at different speeds. I’m just beyond impressed. Couple weeks ago the 25-mile trip on DIC was showing 19.7 mpg towing 6k lb trailer & gear at 60mph. Old trucks I’ve had I don’t know if I got that unloaded ?
  11. 35 non towing psi for me, I increase it to 37 cold psi the morning I hook up the trailer. As you drive and the tires warm up psi naturally increases. Same oem tires
  12. Yes. A car without tire shine reminds me of a businessman in a nice suit that didn’t shine his scuffed up shoes.
  13. No worries at all! I was able to find pictures online easy enough. Yep went ahead and got it, fits what I wanted to do perfectly! ?
  14. Thank you! Also, pewter thanks for bumping this thread. My interest in tow mirror install is just falling in right after yours so it seems I’m following you quite a bit! Thanks ? Also to the OP, that is fantastic step by step information and you’re truck looks great. I love the look/color combo between big black mirror and the silver truck.
  15. This is what my mirror buttons look like on my truck with standard mirrors. Do those with the factory tow mirrors have different buttons to adjust the top/lower mirrors? I do not have power folding or technology package. Just safety package with blind spot monitoring - which I’m ok with losing with tow mirror addition
  16. Stupid awesome. Pulling the trailer from Houston to New Orleans yesterday, roughly 350 miles on a single tank of gas. Stayed on cruise control at 65 mostly some at 70 and some at 60 to get a feel for “slower” mileage. Also ran into bad stop and go traffic twice. Overall trip DIC showed 16.5 MPG and hand calculated got 16.95, thrilled with 60 MPH cruise control DIC showing 19.7 MPG for over 25+ miles!
  17. Went for my free oil change and multipoint inspection (passed with flying colors) and photo-bombed this pic of the pretty bad-a Vette!
  18. 1 week 18 pages 265+ comments 6800+ views Grumpy my man this going strong! LOL ?
  19. Asked about the OEM 2500HD cab lights while at the dealership today. They did not inspire me about having them do the install. But I got the part numbers 84747496 - outer lamp, need 2 84747497 - middle lamp 84694118 - wiring harness The guy wasn’t sure about the connection on the 1500 that the lamp wiring harness would connect into. Could be easy or it might need more. I have zero electrical knowledge. Just passing on info and hope others can help out. I’d really like to do this
  20. What was the process like after you got it hooked up? As in any programming needs or getting the power mirror adjusters working or lights? Got my free oil change at the dealership today and asked them about it and the guy was like “probably around 500 for install”. That seems outrageous to me. You did it easy enough on your own?
  21. Did you ever get cab lights? Does anyone know the part numbers for the OEM 2500HD cab lights and wiring harness?
  22. I’m wondering at what point do profits of a beefed up 1500 compare to those of a 2500/3500. If the profit margins on a 1/2 higher than that of a 3/4 ton I could see wanting to squeeze out more towing capacity for other than marketing purposes. But if a 3/4 ton profit margins are greater than a 1/2 ton then the more capacity these executives, I mean engineers ?, give the the 1/2 the more likely they eat into the need for and sales of the 3/4 ton. Very interesting dynamic from a business operations standpoint.
  23. https://www.lundinternational.com/about-us/ might check out their portfolio of American products and companies. I have the Roll’n’lock Aseries and really like it. Not sure about mounting options for above the cover though.
  24. WOW. So thankful everyone is safe, thats so scary. That color is gorgeous. What a great combo against The black and grey parts. Maybe you could look for a lightly used one in same color?!
  25. Thank you both ? Great, I like the idea of the DEF tucked out of the way in the chest for the long trip. As for the diesel, I’m probably fine w/o it I just like the idea of extremely cheap insurance for a certain part of the trip. Total trip is 10 states and roughly 5,000 miles: TX-CO-SD-MT-WY-ID-OR-UT-AZ-NM-TX!
