Its come time for me to buy a new truck. My price range is $55,000. I test drove a 3500HD, but couldnt get a good feel for it. At work we have a F350 with a turbo, i love everything about that truck. Drives nice off road, really goes fast and lots of power to haul. I well be pulling trailers with trucks on it because mud bogging is what i do. Im wondering if anyone has drove both trucks and can let me know how they compare

What ever truck i get, i well be lifting. I dont want to go more then 4inch but i want big tires, on the GMC it looks like they where not made for big mud tires.

Seems like you've driven them both and already formed an opinion on what you want. Good luck with the ford.

Discounting all capabilities, the new Ford Super Duty is super-ugly. I wouldn't want to be seen driving one, and I'd have no pride owning such an eyesore.

Ford's design group seems to be trying to steer the Super Duty to look more like a semi. But the lower headlight in the stack being the primary just looks all wrong.

My cousin got his F250 (maybe a 350?) about when I got my truck, about 1.5 years ago. He had to look a long time to find an older one with the 7.3L Diesel in it. He is kinda Ford guy and and nothing good to say about the new 6.4L engine. I could be off on the displacements, I don't speak Ford-ese.

FWIW, when I got to job sites, I see a lot of newer GMC/Chevy 2500/3500 trucks. I see almost as many 4 - 5 year old Fords. I never see a new Ford and rarely an old GM. Oddly enough, I don't see many Dodge's.

I don't care about the looks as much as functionality. Don't really care what everyone else has either. Choose the truck for what you are going to use it for. I wouldn't recommend a newer Ford diesel to anyone though. They are in the shop all the time. They will have another new one soon. The Duramax and Ally have proven themselves very worthy since they were introduced in 2001.

Big tires, lift, and pulling heavy......you could have problems with any of them.

Kid around here has a lifted 2500HD, and tows heavy quite often. He is really hard on the truck. (18 years old) He's been through a few trannies already, but with his attitude I wouldn't put any blame on the product (GM). It's his own stupidity.

Down here, its in order.

Dodge

Yeah i dont like dodge at all. As of right now im leaning towards the ford but its only because i have had the chance to drive it in lots of different situations. I was just wondering if the GMC handled like the ford because when your test driving it they dont like you take it off road you try to get up to 190km/h. I was just wanted to know how they compare in towing and areas like that. I do like the ford look more

Im 18 as well, so i would probably have some problems no matter what truck i get.

like Quint said he thinks they look like semis, i like that because i love semis and am going for my licences to drive those

I'll never have a Ford, they are absolute trash, especially my wifes. It has less than 65K on the clock and its been through an alternator, rotors, intake manifold gasket, not to mention none of the doors shut properly, half the windows will go down smoothly and it rattles, shakes and shimmies down the road worse than my '55.

I dont know how the new 6.4s are doing, but the 6.0 were trash. My dad had a '99 with the 7.3 and loved it. It pulled like no other, especially towing around a 27' boat. Then in 07 he decided to get a new one with the 6.0. He likes everything about the truck except the 6.0. I have towed his boat with it several times, and I can say for the same. As for the ride, It is in good comparison with my 04. Only difference, his is 4X4 mine is 2wd, so his does have a slight stiffer ride. The styling, hands down the GMC wins. Maintenance wise, I have only had a few cosmetic problem, nothing mechanical. The Ford, has fuel problems. I dont recall what they were, but he has had to bring it in more than once.

As Joe mentioned, I go for use not looks and the GMC came out better for me. I pull horses on occasion, close to my limit at 12K lbs. To me, my truck with the more weight pulls alot better and can hold its own when its called for. The only problem vs the Ford PS is that my gasser drinks alot more.

I know these isnt a comparison to the new Fords or PS to Duramax, just something to think about.

I would say get a cummins before you waste your money on a powerstroke. The new 6.7l Cummins has some balls! Plus the older inline six 5.9l cummins sound great straight piped, and they smoke so much. And are you from the oil fields in Saskatchewan? That background looks very familiar. And with no front license plate, i don't know any other place that allows you not to have one. Oh and what some people say around here, "I'd rather be cummin then stroke'n"

Based on interiors ONLY...the GM trucks win hands down. The Ford's interior is too busy and way too cheap.

I was shocked at how cheap and flimsy the interior of a $55K Ford truck was when I sat in it at the Auto Show. Fisher Price has a better interior in their Cozy Coupe.

Honestly im not a fan of either interiors. The ford looks like lego blocks and the gm looks like a fancy car interior.

"I'd rather be cummin then stroke'n" lol we got that saying out here to.

"And are you from the oil fields in Saskatchewan? " No southern Alberta. Probably going to be making the move out to Saskatchewan soon to follow the oil field, its dying out here.

"I dont know how the new 6.4s are doing, but the 6.0 were trash. My dad had a '99 with the 7.3 and loved it."

The 7.3 was great, that what i originally wanted but i also want a new truck with less then 10 000km on it

The Gm interiors used to be the best by far. Now they look very similar to Fords in 2000-2005???. Rounded dash over guages, middle looks similar also, and lower dash. The Ford interior now looks just silly, lol. The Dodge isn't anything spectacular either.

Yes, the 6.7 is a beast! It's a medium duty engine in a light duty. What more could you ask for engine wise. Inline engines are known for their power and reliability. The 6 speed is nice also. Just hope it holds up as good as my Allison did, and the old 4 speed in our 2000 F550 PSD.

^ you have a F550, i remember when i was 17 and i just started driving on my own at work we had a F550. They asked me to drive it back to the shop one day. It was manual, its not like i had never drove a standard before but that was an experience. It feels like sitting up in a semi, i would love to have one but i dont think its practical

Driving the F350 at work it was made me realize i could never drive a car. I was 16 and a guy at work and a 2004 f350. He asked me to move it out off they way to they could move on of the tanks with a loader. the truck was parked in mud. I jumped it put it in drive and i would not move, it was stuck. I threw it into 4x4 and it came out like nothing. About a week later i went out and bought my 95 gmc 1500. If i didnt drive that truck that day i would have had a little honda car today
