I figure everyone can appreciate a good broken ford story every once and a while... I began dating my girlfriend long before i met her father. He is a great guy and we agree on everything except one thing... He is a ford guy and loves to talk shit about my beloved GMC, or government motors as he calls it. Well my girlfriend, her parents and I all took the ford up to thier house in NH and on the way home the tranny in his 04 F150 with 95000 miles started slipping. Needless to say, he no longer gives me a hard time about driving a 1999 gmc with over 150000 miles on it thats still on its original motor and tranny

Just remind him that your truck can at least haul 4 ppl with out the tranny going out. Then hopefully she's not daddy's little girl, or someone will be taking cold showers.

Also remind him that Ford is crying too. They keep doing equity swaps to stay afloat, and a renegotiating contracts to stay afloat, because they claim they cannot compete anymore. Build a better product, and they would.

At least Ford didn't take any of OUR MONEY like GM and Chrysler. I will say this, I know they will never pay us back and if Ford did make a truck as good as GM I would buy it. I am sick of govt giving away my money!

Except they did. First, Big Al whined and cried in front of congress and secured a 9 BILLION dollar line of credit...just waiting to be tapped. THEN, Ford was given, by the GOVERNMENT'S Department of Energy, a 5.9 BILLION dollar loan.

And let's not forget how much Ford benefited from the Cash for Clunkers...do you think that without THAT government assistence, Ford would have had those sales?

I do not go for any of this, but the loan to Ford will be paid back with interest (4%), I know we will never see a dime back from the bail outs to GM and Chrysler. As for cash for clunkers, that was a total waste of our money, why should you or I help pay for someone elses ride? Why did Ford benefit? Because they had a car people wanted.

Uh yes I think they would have. All this did was get people that might buy over the next few years to buy now.
