just replace the white plastic bushing. The new redesigned one is blue. Not that expensive. Worked for me.

Part# 88963017 retail is 34.20 ...wholesale is 20.67.

Is that all that needs to be done?? Cheaper than the whole shaft.

Well when I replaced my intermediate shaft with the latest one from GM I replaced the old white bushing while I had the shaft out. The old white one was loose. The new and improved blue one was very tight. I have had no trouble in a year and a half.

up under the dash right on the steering column. Youll see the column running through a stainless looking pipe with a white Pvc colored bell fitting pressed into it. And the column continues on running through the firewall. About a 1inch up from that white Fitting(bushing) put on your plumbing clamp.
