1500hd 6.0l Questions.

Here's a few questions I have....

1) Sunoco sells 110 octane racing fuel, what would happen if I ran that in my 6.0L Vortec?

2) Instead of running conventional or synthetic Oil... has anyone had any successful results running oil such as Rotella T or Mobile Delvac in the Vortecs?

3) 100,000mi service is coming up, which means plugs are due. Apparently "Platinum" plugs are standard, is there a better option?

4) What is the stock thermostat in the Vortecs.. 180deg? Any better results using a 190deg, etc?

5) What would the cost be to convert the Vortec over to be able to run Biofuels.

Thats all, Thanks :)

2) Instead of running conventional or synthetic Oil... has anyone had any successful results running oil such as Rotella T or Mobile Delvac in the Vortecs? Why do you want to run an oil designed for diesel engines?

4) What is the stock thermostat in the Vortecs.. 180deg? Any better results using a 190deg, etc? I believe they're 195 degrees

5) What would the cost be to convert the Vortec over to be able to run Biofuels. Alot, all new fuel delivery system.

Thats all, Thanks :)

1) Sunoco sells 110 octane racing fuel, what would happen if I ran that in my 6.0L Vortec? Depends, if it is leaded racing fuel (which a lot of racing fuels are) it will ruin your catalytic converters. Cat Converters are one of the main reasons we switched to unlead fuels. If it is unleaded, then nothing will happen except for maybe a little better mileage because your pockets are not quite as heavy. The truck is designed to run on 87, you won't see any benefit.

3) 100,000mi service is coming up, which means plugs are due. Apparently "Platinum" plugs are standard, is there a better option? From what I have seen you really can't beat replacing the plugs with another set of stock plugs.

But what if Justin tuned your truck for 110 octane? Man that would be sweet; but you'd need like a 80% increase in mileage to justify the cost. I saw turbo blue for $7/gal.

I've known alot of guys that ran Rotella T in the 350 Gassers and swore by it. They all had 150+ miles on them and were still going strong.

Me personally I run mobil1 in mine and will plan to keep running that.
