Sparking Battery!

Recommended Posts

When I try to hook my battery back up it sparks and the horn sets off. Is this normal, and is it ok to continue hooking it up even though it is sparking like this?

You can get a spark from hooking the battery up but the horn.. not sure about that. I've never had that happen :uhoh:

Make sure everything is shut off doors closed ign. off before connecting battery. Make sure to hook the neg. cable last with a constant application while tightening the bolt. Surges are hazardous to electronic components.

Did you have the doors locked when you disconnected the battery?

My 08 SD will turn on that stupid horn/theft alarm if power is returned to the truck if it was locked when the power was removed.

Both are normal. Truck and horn are sucking juice, hence the sparks. Once you reconnect it, then start fumbling for the fob to hit unlock the doors to make the noise stop. :uhoh:
