I Am Getting New Tires

Hey everyone...for starters, Im getting new tires. I have the 16 inch wheels that came on my truck

I was wondering if anyone has had experience or thoughts on

-Bridgestone Dueler A-T Revo (heard these are really good) or

-Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor

-BFG All-Terrains (have some of these on my dodge, this is about as off-roady as i would get)

Feel free to share about any other good tires, but im not looking for mud boggers or nitto terra grapplers or anything really off road...

I was also curious about what size would fit nicely on my truck, it still has stock (z71, 4wd) suspension and i plan on keeping it stock, so i dont want to get the tires too big where they would rub

I think stock size for the truck is 245/75/16

the truck currently has P265/70R16's on it...i dont know much about tires but plan on talking to the guys at Discount Tire tomorrow, just figured Id see what yall have to say

Anyways, do you think i can fit 275's or 285's working with what i have? I like big tires...

You truck came from the factory with either P245/75R16 or P265/75R16. I'd stick with the P265/75R16, you may be able to get away with 285/75R16 but there's is really no advantage, plus they'll be heavier and just negatively affect you mpgs.

One of the best all round tires I've used is the Firestone Destination A/T. I currently have them on 4 different vehicles, my 96 K1500 and 3 trucks at work (2003 S10 4x4, and (2) 2005 Silverado 4x4s). My 96 has had them for about 16,000 miles and the work trucks all got a set this past October.

Great tire, excellent wet and snow traction, (none of the trucks had a problem in the 23" storm we had last weekend.). They are also VERY quiet which is surprising given the tread pattern. All of them are wearing great as well, they are some of the best tires I've ever used, each truck that needs new tires in the fleet is getting these. (They are rated VERY highly on Tire-rack.com as well)

Here's a pic of the ones on my 96 with about 16,000 miles as you can see they are wearing great (Size is P265/75R16)

I have had BFG's AT ko's before on my 05 Canyon and they worked great. Had them on my 08 Sierra before I got my current rims and tires. Which are Kumho Road Venture AT's. It has been snowing up here for the last day and a half. Have about 16" so far and they work great also. Have had no problems getting around what so ever. But when I need new tires again I will definitely go with the BFG's.

When I had my D-Max 2500 I had a set of BFG A/T tires and didnt like them made the truck feal loose and then sold them to a buddy for his work truck for almost what I payed for them, bought a set of Revo's and really liked them as wet and snow traction was great. As soon as these stock tires wear out iam getting another set of Revos.

I have a pair of Sport Kings on my 2500hd right now, I really like them, they hook up in the snow and ice, tar roads, gravel and rain. I've got about 20k on my D rated rears and there about 50ish percent, but I pull a 20' trailer and did not rotate, the fronts are about 75%> I do have a set of BFG's on my jeep wrangler, never had them before, they hook up really well for a lite auto.

I am going to have the Firestone Destination A/T's installed on mine. Been researching this for a month now. After reading about countless tires, that's the one for me. Jusr deciding whether to go with the 265's or 275's.

Heck, maybe I'll put 265's up front and 285 in the rear. Just can't rotate 'em.

Good luck.

If it's 4X4 you have to use the same size tires.

To the OP, your Z-71 came with 265/75R16 tires, go with BFG 285/75R16 All-Terrains.

Went with the A/T Revos...theyre agressive, not too much though... really good looking tires

They lifted the front about an inch and the back closer to 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch...they filled up the wheel wells really nicely too

Size is 265/75/16 and they're a lot taller than the previous tires

went with discount tire...been with them for a couple years and i went ahead and got the best warantee, so even if i get nails in the sidewall or shoulder Im covered

lifetime balance and rotation is free

total: 923.68

I figures you only get tires so often so Id get my money's worth

Im going to NC with family tonight but I will put up pics in a couple days...

Mine's 2WD so there would be no problem. Want a little more tire out back to fill in the large rear wheel well.

ABS and Traction control are not going to like that very much.

Keep the tires the same size.

Yeah,You definitely don't want two different size tires, even if it is 2wd.
