hi . just stoppin in for a look and info . usually at v8buick.com but one of the guys there directed me here for this info . customer of mine is out new truck lookin . a friend of his is a new car dealer ( both dodge and chevy , and my former employer , dodge parts manager - retired in 2007 ) so he's headed in one of those directions . he wants :

half ton , 4wd , quad , he likes 'em nicely optioned and he like 'em "hot rod" !!

i'm familiar with the dodge stuff but the GM not so much .

5.3 or 6.2 correct ? is the 6.2 available in a half ton ? best "starting point" vehicle ?

factory performance parts ? aftermarket ? what works and whats available ?

weight ? gear ratio's ? opinions , facts , guesswork and questions are all appreciated . and just so ya know , this guy is not afraid to throw parts at a new truck , he bought a new dodge and had me order cam pkg , headers and exhaust kit , computer upgrade , cold air etc right away , plus the usual grill guard , 'glass bed cover and side step options . i will try and do the homework and direct him in the right directions but he's also getting a dump chassis and an escalade so $$'s not the problem i guess . thanks in advance . i'll be able to check here every day or so . del

If he likes performance tell him to get the 6.2L in one of the newer trucks. Either the 3.42 or 3.73 gear is plenty with the 6spd trans. And yes, he can get the 6.2L in a 1500.

Since he likes a lot of options and "hot rod", tell him to check out the Sierra Denali AWD. The base version of it will come well equipped, it has the 6.2L, 6speed trans and 3.42 gears and will run the 1/4 mile in the mid 14's STOCK.

Talking to one of my local tuners who specializes in the GM performance truck market (trailblazer SS, Silverado SS, Denali, etc) has guys delving into the 13s with some minor bolt-ons and a tuned PCM & TCM.

i wll mention the denali thing to him . also - he's asking me about a "nutcracker" or "ballbuster" ( or something ) engine option ? thanks for the info so far . del

He's probably referring to the GMC commercial... that 400+ HP that they're advertising IS the 6.2L that I was talking about.

ok , back , been busy .

so : 6.2 denali 1500 - base 6.2 or a little better ? is there only the 403hp version of the 6.2 ? forced induction kits ? not sure if he wants to go QUITE that far but i'm sure he's thought about it . northeast shops/supertuners/installers ? does hennessey in texas do trucks ? just thinkin out loud ( sorta ) . thanks . del

Both 6.2's are the same. Personal choice is 4x4... so you have selectable 4x4 instead of all-wheel drive. If you don't want drone inside the cab... Corsa's your best choice!
