That's great but I don't think the GTO was stock. And I'm sure even with the mods it has still didn't cost as much as the Porsche.

That Goat running 11.35 is nowhere near stock. Sounded like H/C car, could have just been cutouts and nitrous though. Plus it's set up for drag racing. That Porsche would whoop it's ass in the twisties, from a roll, and in tail-pulling power.

It always kills me when people post up the prices of cars as if it's some sort of indicator as to how fast something should be. There are Neons that can flat wax my car that cost 1/2 as much. eh...It's still a Neon. And the car in that vid is still a Pontiac...Against a 1/2 million dollar supercar. I could probably beat quite a few "supercars"...But that doesn't mean I wouldn't swap keys with a Diablo owner if his dumbass offered.

I agree but when it comes to a cross country or lets say even a across state road trip, I'll take the GTO over that Porsche any day. For the simple reason I know that I could drive it someplace far far away and drive it back home again with no issues or break downs. Honestly I think a Porsche might be one of the more reliable supercars but there aint no way I would trust a Diablo any father than a $300.00 tow (About a 100 miles on a rollback) from the dealers service center.

i agree, and i would feel like a tool driving a porsche anyway. :D

I'd take the expensive car, drive the hell out of it for a week, then sell it...Pay off my house, buy a couple of STUPID fast cars, a Sierra Denali, and a candy bar.

Same here.

You can hear in the video that the Porsche lost traction a few times but no way the GTO was stock and the Porsche looked like he was starting to catch him. If the Porsche would have hooked he would have blown away the GTO.

I used to have a 4 cylinder car in my late teens with a turbocharger running 30 psi that would run in the 12's back in the '70s. I'd go Porsche hunting all the time. The thing is, it was a Pinto. Given the choice between a Pinto and a Porsche, I think my selection would be easy, if I didn't have to pay for it. A Pinto will always be a Pinto. A Pontiac will always be a Pontiac.

Nonsense. He would NOT have blown away the modded GTO. A Stock GT only runs low 12's upper 11s stock anyways.

You got that right, I would even put this Suburban against the porsche.

I have been fortunate enough to drive a lot of high dig, fast cars and I agree that money doesn't equal speed or luxury. Driving other people's high dig cars is the way to go, though. Fun without the payments!!

great in a straight line, put that gto against that porsche in a corner... game over GTO i doubt the corner panel tap would even unseat that porsche. still cool though and the gto sounded better, i think. would've been more interesting if the guy in the porsche got off the line before the gto was 1/3 down the track too, lol

butzers09silverado, you got to admit that at a certain point in performance its not all about the car, but more the driver. Look at Mark Martin this year, we know he is a good driver but just needed a good car to get it done. Junior on the other hand has good equipment and can't get it done. I wish that boy would focus back on racing and not so much about his other enterprise's..

junior has the talent, the problem is he can not figure out this new car and i don't think he is getting the same equipment. i really think junior is a marketing tool for HMS and thats it. I read an article about Lance's opinion on the issues, sounds to me like Kyle had the same benefits mark had..... and junior should've taken that team, but instead he took DEI to HMS and suffered, like an idiot.

that said, the gto shouldn't have won by that much.
