Does my fender stripes count as a don't do?

Considering you're a Vette owner, I could let it slide. :seeya:

I disagree with the guy who said something about leaving hitch balls in.

My hitch ball has saved my butt a couple times when i was backing up. It kept me from backing into a couple trees, it has let me know when backing down a steep slope when im about to hit the bumper, and it saved our little Camry when i accidentally backed up into it

Plus, its a good anchor point when pulling someone out of a mudhole.

Actually, they are HORRIBLE anchor points unless used properly. You wouldn't pull off that hitch ball if

you've ever watched one snap off and go through a windshield, trust me. I always had a spare receiver

with no ball to connect my horizontal clevis to for pulling people out.

I've used mine to pull big ass tree limbs down to pulling out stuck vehicles. I always loop the tow strap around the hitch, and so far it has served me well.

While were on the subject of hitch balls, check out this dumb ass.

thats just funny, i can't believe that they forgot to take the pin out, and its sad that the front wheels spin instead of the rear on a rear drive vehicle.

and can't stand lots of chrome, but yes i have lots of it and it really p*sses me off. the reason its not off is because nobody in my town carries glue remover. and i hate the little chrome cutouts. like bears, deer, flames, etc.

fart cans, lowered trucks, RICERS, spinners, 22'' bigger rims, low profile tires, pavement princesses and MOSTLY people with 2 wheel drive trucks drivers that think they are invincible, they think they can drive through the middle of the swamp or through 4 feet of snow and the best part is that they call me at 1 am and i have to pull there a**es out.

4x4 dosen't make you invincible either

that is very true, but you should know your limits even i know my truck can't make it through the middle of the swamp. where some of these guys get stuck i probably wouldn't have got through with my truck in 4x4.

Just a friendly piece of advise, that's all. Take it for what its worth. I've spent many of my years in the off

road scene and can tell you that once you see a hitch point fail (trailer balls are a big one) and go through

a tailgate, radiator or windshield, you'll change your mind. Thank god that I never witnessed anybody getting killed

because of it. Most off road jamboree's and such won't even let you in the pit or down the trail with a trailer

ball still in your receiver. There's a reason for that. Just sayin'. :troll:

Are these your friends that put tow mirrors and ball mounts on and never use them ? Otherwise how are you so sure they NEVER use them ? I plan on buying tow mirrors for my half ton for when I tow every other weekend this summer, does that mean I'm stupid for having them in the winter when I'm not towing ?

How do you know a ball mount has never been used ? Why do I have to take it outw when I'm I'm done using it ?

Ball mounts that have NEVER towed anything. Drives me nuts when people who use them leave them in when not in use, but when somebody puts one and has never used it!

and Tow mirrors when you NEVER anything.

First tow mirrors are fine, but full extened when not towing or NEVER towing are two diffent things. As to how I know this;

1) There isn't much you could tow that requires tow mirrors that doesn't require a a WD hitch so a lack of a WD ball mount for starters. Don't get me wrong, if you have them and are towing something smaller and it helps that is great. Point is, it is a clue.

2) A ball that is either pristine or has 4 years of rust on it.

So no you not stupid at all. You are using your truck and that is wonderful and what it is about. Where I run into a problem is with the guy that has 10" lift, tow mirrors full extened and a 1 7/8 ball in the hitch. First the mirrors and the truck are all about "look at me" and there is no purpose to any of it.

Second it drives me nuts when people leave a ball mount in all the time for the simple purpose of "if you rear end me I'm gonna make sure I F!@# up your car as much as possible" That my friend is not a good attitude. Why make it worse? Even if the worse is only on the person at fault, first we have all made mistakes, second what damage are you doing to that reciever you will not know about until it fails and you loose your load KILLING somebody. What ever happened to the golden rule?

Ok, rant done :troll:

Car Flags..

while I understood it and even had one for a month after 9/11, no I see them every where with things from sport teams to other country flags to bumber sticker slogans..

look man if you are going to bitch about the price of gas, don't add 2 or more flags to your car that put so much drag on the vehicle it reduces your mpg by 1 - 2.. additionally if one of those farking things flies off and hits my truck, you and I will have a problem.

I have no problem with people leaving their hitch inserts in when not in use, i use to leave mine in all year long until they started walking off..now the people that buy them just to slap giant covers on them to be funny is a different story, i saw one that had a giant deer sitting on the ball, when the brakes were applied it would dance...wtf

i do find political bumper stickers rather wasteful, yeah cool you support a political party but what happens when its time to remove them lol

I leave my hitch and ball in 365 days a year. I simply do not see a reason to take it off. Do you unscrew your antenna on your truck and bring it in the house when your done listening to the radio ? to me, it's the same logic.

I see your point with putting funny stuff on the back like a dancing deer, but that's what makes america so great, its a free country ..

i really dont see why everybody is bashing the cold air intakes..... i installed a spectre brand intake, yes the cheap brand, on my friends 01 gmc 4x4 with a 5.3. the intake was about 125 bucks from the local parts house, like everyone is bashing, and the box claimed 18 horses. it has a polished stainless steel tube and lifetime filter. very high quality, twenty minute install, very nice throughty sound from engine bay. more than anything else, low end throttle response and torque pulling out of the hole was an amazing change. i emailed the company, and they will have one out for the nbs trucks in about a month or so. i am going to buy it. i was expecting it to look good, sound cool, and be a lifetime filter. i would have never imagined that you could breathe that much life into a truck with 125 bucks. the part number for the intake was 9900 and fits up to the 07 classics. the part number for the nbs intake, according to the rep for the company, will be 9910. should be available late febuary, early march.

My neighbor has a 1995 C1500 RCLB 305 with 1 3/4 stacks made out of the prebent Advance auto exhaust pipe welded and clamped.... I'll sneek a pic and repost this with it. Almost PI$$ed myself the first time i saw it. :dunno:

I suggest you change the filter to a K&N or similiar brand ASAP. I have seen numerous reports of their filters holding water. I have one of their kits, but I ended up getting a heat shield sleeve from Jegs, K&N filter, and modified my stock airbox to shield the filter from the engine bay. When the filter was "open" to the engine bay heat, the intake temps were sky high. If your intake is sucking in 200+ F air off the radiator, the improvement you "feel" is all in your head (and ears with the sound). After I was finished "improving" my Spectre intake, my intake temps stay very close to ambient as long as I don't sit in stop and go traffic for a while. I verified the changes in temp using my Aeroforce scanner.

As to the trailer hitches....I keep mine in when I'm not towing for several reasons including protection from being rear-ended and to keep me from backing up too far against parking garage walls and stuff. I lightly rear-ended someone back in high school, but their hitch kept me from hurting their car. It poked a hole in my bumper, but I was happy I didn't have to report it because I didn't damage their vehicle. Locking hitch pins help keep your your reciever around. They won't stop a determined criminal though.

I also can't stand Browning "buck" symbols in the rear windows of trucks anymore. Most of the people with them around here are trying to fake being country or doing it only for the trend and not because they like the brand. It doesn't help that they make the buck mark look like "904" which is the area code around here. Usually on trucks with a lot of bass/rap and big chrome rims and lift kits on trucks purchased by their parents. They want to be ghetto but look country at the same time.

Not in BC that I know of, its always annoyed me people that drive around with them though. It sticks out a few inches and you just know that people are stupid enough to misjudge when backing up and they hit your parked vehicle. Of course they drive away without saying anything as well.
