Worthless Mods Lets Here Them

i really dont see why everybody is bashing the cold air intakes..... i installed a spectre brand intake, yes the cheap brand, on my friends 01 gmc 4x4 with a 5.3. the intake was about 125 bucks from the local parts house, like everyone is bashing, and the box claimed 18 horses. it has a polished stainless steel tube and lifetime filter. very high quality, twenty minute install, very nice throughty sound from engine bay. more than anything else, low end throttle response and torque pulling out of the hole was an amazing change. i emailed the company, and they will have one out for the nbs trucks in about a month or so. i am going to buy it. i was expecting it to look good, sound cool, and be a lifetime filter. i would have never imagined that you could breathe that much life into a truck with 125 bucks. the part number for the intake was 9900 and fits up to the 07 classics. the part number for the nbs intake, according to the rep for the company, will be 9910. should be available late febuary, early march.

They do the same thing with aftermarket mufflers. I had a Flowmaster with a turndown on my truck when I bought it. It was OK but I didnt like the sound or the drone. I swapped it out for a Magnaflow and a 3" tailpipe last night and I love the sound. I swapped a 14" Flowmaster for a 24" Magnaflow and now my truck is quiet but still has that mellow rumble. It also doesnt have that sound that most Flowmaster have, that kinda sounds like its running under water at idle. But that as nothing to do with the performance.

However, I did notice massive improvements in throttle response and acceleration. I really didnt romp on it because its a quiet muffler so there really wasnt any point. So, driving like I normally do, I noticed that the truck had less lag at lower RPM. Especially after the 1-2 shift. Ide always thought that my truck struggled for a few seconds after the 1-2 shift, but not any more. Im not going to make any HP claims because I doubt seriously I gained much if any.

So, I dont know why so many people hate on the idea of performance gains from a muffler swap. Granted, they are small unless you are running heavy mods, but they are there. I concider it money well spent if it helps the truck run better, even if it doenst net me 100 extra horses. Ide say that it was the best $145 I ever spent on this truck.

This is beside the point, but this is the first time I've seen this truck. That is SHARP!!! Love it!

Well, it didn't show the signature pic...nevermind.

Should we include the stick-on hood scoops????

i agree 100% on the reece hitch staying in the receiver. i keep mine in for those same reasons, and someone rearended me lightly just recently. dented his bumper, i got a good laugh, we went on with life.

browning stickers, FOX STICKERS, random stickers that say comp cams, hoosier, jegs, summit, ect. on daddys ride, they all get on my nerves. i love it when they have a "fmf" or a "renthal" sticker. i always ask them if they are running atv exhaust on their truck, and they look at me funny. i guess daddy needs to keep his stickers with his pain meds under lock and key, some kids use them even though they dont know what they are.

i based my performance gain opinion on the fact that is almost never downshifted on hills, would go sideways taking off, and really felt more torquey when you give it a small amount of gas. he already had pipes, so you couldnt tell a huge difference in sound while driving. parked with the hood up? yes, you could hear it. im pretty sure the only difference was the more openly flowing tube design without the baffles.. the name COLD air intake is misleading. wasnt my truck, but he never had any problem with the filter. this kid is one of the types i was talking about earlier. he has a fox sticker, k/n sticker, and a LS FEST car show sticker on his truck. he doesent even know what an ls motor is, he just saw it laying in my garage and asked if he could have it. that truck is gone now, though. his papaw had to buy him a new truck, because that one wasnt good enough.

i am 18 years old and a senior in highschool. i am in debt on the truck that i drive on my gas dollar and maintenance dollar every day. i am lucky enough that my parents pay my insurance. i dont have a million random stickers splattered on my truck or flashy chrome **** everywhere. i guess i just have too much common sense to be a typical teenager.

In regard to things hanging from the interior rear view mirror, anything that impedes the driver's field of view is a ticketable offense. Doesn't matter if it's a picture of dear old Mom. I'll write you up in a heartbeat. Put the cellphone down, too.

Yeah, and you're probably the kind of cop who will let women who speed, impede traffic, etc. go just because they are pretty. Get off the powertrip.

after market tint jobs

level kits

mufflers just for sound (hey you either have balls or not, your muffler doesn't prove anything)

any NASCAR or gun stickers

flags

color matched bed covers

I think I pissed off 90% here. :)

actually the only one I would add to the long thread is the "IN MEMORY OF... " written on the rear window. Do you think grandma really wanted you spending that 20k she left you on a truck and that by putting her remembrance on there makes it alright?

here up north in alberta, mainly fort mcmurray its the so-called newfoundland "capital of canada". their is an abundance of newfies...now i dont know if any of you americans have had the pleasure of talking to one..."ooohhh me son, me hates the way I's talk, LORD TUNDERIN' jesus by'.....god they are nice people but they talk like morons, and most of them are about as useful as a post...and they think by putting a picture of the outline of the shape of newfoundland makes their vehicle special in alberta. ive seen the picture of "the rock" (newfoundland is an island) with "100%" inside it, ive seen "republic of newfoundland" and ive seen "yeeees by" and this just isnt a couple vehicles its like aaaaalll newfies trucks...that and they LOVE canadian tire chrome bullshit. ive seen a few trucks around town with EVERY chrome glue on peice of shit that you can possibly buy on their truck along with a spoiler, shitty exhaust tip, ROLL BAR with chrome lights, big ass antanae's...along with their "rock" sticker. proud to be from the stupidest(its a real fact) part of canada...makes me sick. if you miss the rock so much...GO HOME

Pretty sure the newfies need that picture to find their way home. Not sure how they got to Alberta, but if you ask one in Toronto how they got here, they will tell you they were out playing hockey on the St Lawrence river and got a break away...

Personally I don't care what someone does to their truck. I neither hate nor love anything inanimate. If it makes them happy, why should I care? I don't modify my truck for anyone but myself.

Some of the black people here get a chevy caprice or old impala and they will paint it to match a certain theme. Like they might have a john deere car, a coors light car, a gatorade car. It is pretty amusing and cool to see some of the different paint schemes...to each his own

I definitely might piss a bunch of yall off, but what's with the over-rail toolboxes? They look really cheesy in my opinion.

And its been said a million times, but WTF is with all the chrome accenting? Like really?

my tool box might not look the best, but its very practical for me and i really like being able to lock all of my tools and guns and other things in there and not fill up the cab. and i see your your in california, here in rural PA, literally 85% of the trucks have toolboxes.

i agree... chrome trim just is too much
