I have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 with a 5.3 Vortec V8, the engine is really messed up and is going to need replaced. What year, model, etc. 5.3 will fit in my truck???

Any '99-07 (Classic/GMT800) will fit. Since you're having to do an engine swap though, you might consider upgrading to a 6.0L instead....

You might consult the search feature for more pertinent information.

Don't you need a beefed up transmission for the more powerful engine with more torque? Will a standard 4L60 unit handle the torque without adverse effects?

And if I was to put a 5.3 out of like a 2001 would there have to be any computer/wiring harrness changes??

Same with the 6.0 would I have to make any modifications to make it fit, or transmission or the wiring harrness/computer??

Could I put a 5.3 out of like a Trail Blazer, or a Tahoe, Or a Avalanche etc. etc.

trail blazer with a 5.3 a? show me one.

Yep, since 2003 you could get the 5.3 as an option. Then in 2006 I believe you could get an SS with the 6.0.

Yup. The extended length TB and Envoy were available with the 5.3L since 2003, then in 05 the Envoy Denali had the 5.3L, in 06 the regular length TB got the 5.3L, and the TBSS came out with the 6.0L LS2.

Do you care for fuel economy? You'll notice a drop in mileage for 6.0 vs a 5.3 motor.
